IMPORTANT PROPHECIES:

1. WILDERNESS - JOHN THE BAPTIST
A powerful prophecy that was delivered a few years ago through Pastor Rod Parsley from Columbus, Ohio. God delivered this word to wake His Church from a spiritual stagnancy and to get it ready for a new anointing coming upon the earth.

JOHN THE BAPTIST

By Pastor Rod Parsley

A powerful prophecy that was delivered a few years ago through Pastor Rod Parsley from Columbus, Ohio. God delivered this word to wake His Church from a spiritual stagnancy and to get it ready for a new anointing coming upon the earth. The prophecy reads as follows:

"For the day of the prophet is upon you, says the Lord - the day, not of man-made prophets, but of My prophets. Have you not read in My Word and gained understanding that never a greater prophet lived that John the Baptist? My forerunner has gone before Me, and it is time for My forerunner  again. Upon My first advent into this earth I sent My forerunner with an explicit message. I would have you to know that I am no respecter of persons and, as I sent My forerunner before Me that day, so will I send My forerunners this day. I would have you know that it is no different in this day. They shall  come forth not from those areas that you would assume, even as John came not forth from Jerusalem. John came forth from the wilderness. My forerunners shall not come from ivory palaces. They shall not come from schools of higher learning. They shall come forth from My Presence, where they have walked with Me in the wilderness, where there has not been man nor beast to minister unto them. I would not have their message defiled, nor would I have their message marred by mere mortal man. For I the Lord your God shall speak by My Spirit unto them. They shall come forth eating locusts and wild honey, and by that I would say unto you that they will have no dependency upon the world. They will not depend on man or organizations. They shall not depend upon anything but Me to sustain them, for I, the Lord your God, have them right now in the wilderness. I have them in the back places of the desert and I am feeding them with manna from heaven. I am sustaining them by My breath and I am breathing on them afresh, for it is almost time for their demonstration. When they come forth, hear My voice in their words, and gain understanding from what I shall say.For I, the Lord, shall bring them forth and, because they depend on no man, their voice shall not be marred. Because they depend on no organization, they shall speak but what I give them to speak.

"But know this, their message shall not be what many thought, for they have not come in enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of power. And know this, that the eye of the Lord is in their head, the voice of the Lord is in their mouth, My hearing is in their ears, and they shall see what I see.

"By this know that they shall receive the first part of the message. Even as the message of John coming forth out of the wilderness was "Repent," so shall the message of My prophets this day be. They shall not be as many of you have desired, ladling all the glitter of My Kingdom upon you, for My message is one of love and humility. Though it sounds a harsh message, the message of repentance is actually the greatest message of love that I can give to My people. The message of repentance shall bring refreshing from the presence of My Kingdom.

"As the prophets bring forth that message, hearken. As they say, "repent of idolatry," and as they burst your idols and as they expose even your sin, as John the Baptist exposed the sin of those in Jerusalem, so shall you be quick to repent. I desire to send refreshing, but first must come repentance. As you repent you shall feel the winds of refreshing by My Spirit. The latter rain shall ride upon the wings of repentance. When I hear your voice crying unto Me, I will blow the spirit of refreshing upon you and then you shall be restored. In the final hour, I will restore healing power to your hands.

"Wait until you hear the anthem ringing from the prophets, for I am a great God and greatly to be praised. Refreshing and restoration shall come, and the world shall come to you. In the restoration move you shall receive what I call "promise." Repentance shall bring refreshing and refreshing, restoration. There is left but one phase for My prophets to speak, which is the proclamation of My return.

"So repent, and I shall refresh you; and then shall be the restoration of all things and finally My return. But I cannot return unless My way is paved, and I cannot pave My way until the prophets speak for Me.  The sound of their hoof beats are nigh at hand. Listen well. You have walked so much in the flesh that it has been hard for you to really discern what comes from My Spirit. But I will teach you. I will tell you. I have My prophets in the wilderness, but the wilderness gate is open and the prophets are nigh at hand!

2. WILDERNESS - WORLD-WIDE EXTENT
Why are tens of thousands of devoted Christians leaving the churches? Is it a 'movement'? What is causing this world-wide phenomenon?

"IT IS SURPRISING TO FIND THAT ROUGHLY 10 MILLION
BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN ADULTS [in the US] ARE UNCHURCHED."

A WORLD-WIDE PHENOMENON

Why are tens of thousands of devoted
Christians leaving the churches? Is it a
'movement'? What is causing this
world-wide phenomenon?

See link to NEW ZEALAND REVIVAL SITE- Andrew Strom - article on his web site deals extensively with this.

Extract (please consult his web site for the full version):

I was invited onto a Christian Radio show in New Zealand to discuss the growing numbers of "Out-of-church" Christians in the West - people who have left the churches for various reasons but still claim a strong Christian faith. It was a very interesting night, and the phones ran hot.

This "Out-of-church" phenomenon has now grown so large that books are being written about it. In fact, several years ago I heard an estimate that there are TENS OF THOUSANDS of such Christians just in our largest city (-Auckland) alone. And I believe it is the same right across the Western nations. I have personally come into contact with literally hundreds of such people. The surprising thing is that they are often the most committed kind of Christians - praying, insightful, deep-thinking. Yet they have grown tired of "playing the game" inside our church system and have opted out. Often their involvement goes back many years. In fact, they had commonly been leaders of various kinds.

But now they have left. Why? The church obviously finds this a very difficult thing to explain or deal with. The usual accusations are often trotted out: "So-and-so has been hurt and has a root of bitterness". Or they are in "rebellion". Or they are "not a team player". Or they are "backsliding".

But if you talk to these people you will often find that they have been sitting in church for years and years, and they simply cannot stand to sit and watch the same old game being played any more. The LACK OF GOD is what gets to them - even in our most "Spirit-filled" churches. WHERE IS GOD IN ALL OF OUR ACTIVITY? Surely this is not the way it is supposed to be?

New fads and programs come and go, but the mediocrity and LACK OF GOD just seem to go on forever. And so quietly, sometimes without anyone even noticing, they slowly slip out the doors - never to return. Some have even told me that they felt God "calling them out". Others simply felt they couldn't stay there anymore. The state of the church weighed upon them more than words could say.

Very often they did the rounds of other churches, hoping against hope that they would find a place that felt "right" in any way. (-Though most of them are not "church-hoppers" by nature). But the places they visited never seemed any more "right" than the place they had left. And after a while it just seemed easier to stay at home with God.

As I said earlier, most of these people have not given up on Christianity at all. It is today's church system that they have given up on. And we are talking about large numbers here. Thousands are already opting out. And many feel like they are "waiting" for something.

Some of these people have started up home-fellowships. Or they meet with other couples on a casual basis. But many meet with nobody at all, and they consider themselves in a 'Wilderness' place - alone with God. (-Very common).

But it is not possible to stay "alone" forever. Some day, if these people are going to be part of a new move of God's Spirit, they are going to have to come out of their wilderness and become part of the "BODY" that Jesus brings together - the 'new wineskin' that will come with this new move of God. Otherwise they could miss out. That is the great danger.

I'm sure there are many on this List with comments or testimonies relating to this topic. I would love to hear from you. It really is becoming a significant issue in the church.

God bless you, my friends.
________________________________

I was inundated with emails. It seemed to be going round and round on the Internet because many responses were from people that were not even part of our own List. Such a huge number of heart-felt stories from people who still loved Jesus but had left the churches (-forever, in many cases). What an eye-opener! It confirmed to me that this issue is so much larger than many of us have realized. I don't think a lot of Christian leaders have any clue how many believers are simply opting out of "organized religion" today.

Throughout this book you will read many of these stories, sent to me from all over the world. To give you an understanding of just how "global" this phenomenon is, here is a small sampling just to get you started:

From: Ian (-Scotland):

We are a group of 4 Christians who meet in our respective homes. We were formerly leaders in our local fellowship, but for various reasons found ourselves outside of the established church. And like yourselves we have found the we are not alone. We have met with dozens of Christians around Scotland who are in the same boat. Most were leaders in their fellowships. We were with a group last night of two families with about 8 or 9 meeting in a home.

Your estimate about the number of people in this position does feel about right. I have been in contact with one man in London who has a mailing list of four thousand. I have heard that estimates would put the total as being greater than those that are still in 'Church'. But due to the nature of being 'out of church', it will be very difficult to quantify.

From: Pastor Jim C. (-USA):

In my estimation, in regard to the numbers involved per capita, New Zealand has the sniffles and America has full blown pneumonia.

From: Mary (-USA)

You would be VERY surprised at the number of VERY high-level, gifted and mature Christian leaders who are NOT attending regular church here in Southern California. My husband and I hosted a care group about 7 years ago with 15 couples. Only 3 of them still attend church.

From: Thomas (-USA):

I and my family are some of the, I believe, millions who have left the church system or have been called out by God into the "wilderness." As the Lord explained our calling out He said it would be a time of purging and teaching us to stand in Him alone so that we could stand properly when we are brought back with the many. We still fellowship and share the Word with others. We still, at His direction, do the works of the Church: meeting the needs of others and sharing His truth. We are just not part of the system and I don't believe we will ever be called to rejoin a religious system, but a living fruit-producing Body.

From: Mike (-Vineyard Church, UK):

Just read your piece on 'Out of Church Christians'. Amazing - I've been getting an increasing sense that this is what is going on around us here in the UK. So many fine Christians living effectively outside the Body... and I've always felt that anyone who amputated themselves like this would die and rot, like a severed finger - yet these guys don't, or haven't yet, anyway. The loss to the church is one thing, and the danger to them another - and yet there is this wilderness thing. Look at King David, how he had to spend all those years running in the desert before his anointing could take effect, as it were...

From: Donnalea (-South Africa):

This phenomenon has reached our country too. I'm sure that many out-of-church South African Christians have already contacted you. Although I am still in fellowship, I have really been going through a tough time getting myself to church every Sunday. I love the Lord with all my heart, but Christians and modern day Christianity or "churchianity" get on my nerves. I too am tired of all the programmes and never once seeing or feeling that God is in control. I desperately want to know God again and to really know His will. I am in fellowship during the week with people who have left church completely and as with this general phenomenon, are true Christians really seeking God's will.

From: Tony (-South Africa):

I read your article on “Out of church Christians” with much interest, and yes, it is a worldwide phenomenon. I have personally spoken to many Christians from abroad, many of them business men (it seems like the business community were almost the first to identify it). And yes, what started off as a trickle, well, now the flood gates are open and many have either left, or are in the process of leaving.

From: Jouko (-Finland):

You just described my situation in your article "Out of church" Christians. There are many in that position in Finland, too. I don't know what will be the future solution for this dilemma.

From: Liz (-Zimbabwe):

Have just received your article from a friend and was most interested to discover that it is not only our country which is experiencing this "phenomenon" (if I may use that expression!) There are many of us who have felt "called out of the church" and group together for home cells where there are about 12 folks together. Then once a month we meet up with others, but have a very strong prayer network and are in contact daily with each other, as needs are great here in Zimbabwe.

From: Mark (-USA):

I am still in church leadership and music ministry in a traditional church setting, but many very anointed & prophetically gifted friends of mine have had their fill of "playing church" and have "opted out" of organized religion. One is running a ministry (camp/retreat) for pastors in CO, another is raising sheep in KS, a third is creating an online network for churches, but none go to the traditional 'sermon/music/prayer/pulpit & pew' places we call "churches". I feel in my heart that this mass of hungry and Christ following people is God's own way of setting the stage for a huge reformational change.

From: Randy (-USA):

I read an explanation of why the phenomenon is growing - the out-of-church Christians. They say that we are lone rangers, backsliders, not team players, have bitter root judgments.... This can't be further from the truth.

When we have been attending church, we find- No God - No Power- No Gospel- Bad Agendas- Poor Leadership- Bad teaching- Bad programs- No Christ- No Healing- No miracles. Just a struggle for personal power and control.

I can't tell you how many times I have been treated like I am not going to Heaven because I am not attending church. So, the sad part is, where do we take our gifts, our tithes, and our love - but out to the streets.

We know many who have left the church, who are committed as prayer warriors, intercessors, missionaries, and worshippers. Wanting to share their gifts from God.

This movement is growing - so it will over-take the church. What you are seeing is just the tip of the iceberg.

From: Pat (-Canada):

I've been an out of church believer for over 7 years. I'm also a non-denominational ordained minister. I've visited a variety of churches over the years (and spoken at many of them) as the Lord led, but to be honest I frequently find it very hard to visit them. It's as if all I can hear are sobbing people and the rattling of chains all around me, yet everyone is smiling and singing of how God has freed them and filled them with joy. Often I feel like crying while believers around me are smiling and laughing with apparent joy... yet in reality they seem to touch very few with the love of God... even in their own churches. Canada has as many, if not more true believers who are also un-churched as New Zealand has.

From: Sam (-ex-Vineyard pastor, Canada):

I live in a community of 330,000 people and the OUT OF CHURCH Christian population has grown from 6,000 to over 10,000 since the summer of 1999...

From: Sue (-Australia):

I personally know a lot of strong Christian committed ex-church leaders, sold out for God, who God is using outside the local church. Some are in home groups, some just get together regularly for fellowship. As for me, most of my fellowship is with my friends in NZ and Australia by telephone and email.

From: Jenny (-New Zealand):

I work alongside people who have left churches as my job, under the umbrella name of Spirited Exchanges. I facilitate a couple of groups for people to process what has gone on for them in churches and to struggle with the faith and church issues...

I would agree with you - the accusations of 'backslider' and others are quite inaccurate and unhelpful. From what I have seen they are actually asking the hard questions in order to deepen, continue in and better integrate their faith.

I too, wonder if there is a move of God in this - people being called to something deeper, out of the game-playing and conformist faith stage...

From: Scott (-Japan-based email):

As a person who has been involved with ministry and with churches heavily for over 20 years (right from when I was 15), I can understand why people just leave. In the old days, we would give messages about that kind of person and say that they were lacking in commitment, and how you have to be planted in the one place, and how everything God wants to do he does through the local church, etc.

So people who dropped out of church were always seen as having not much to offer.

But, there are tons of them out there. I have chatted recently and am surprised that a lot of people who do want fellowship, and love God, don't go to a church regularly.

From: Anne (-USA):

In America, in certain cities, the out of church Christians are probably higher in number than the in-church Christians. It is a phenomenal occurrence... I feel as a missionary evangelist that there are so many church programs with little or none of the Presence of the Lord in the churches and that is the reason people leave them. There is little prayer and what prayer there is is void of passion and power and fire.

From: Peggy (-USA):

My husband and I have been Christians for 30 years, home group leaders for much of that time; my husband has also been a worship leader for most of that time. However, now we are among the "out of church" that your message describes, although we do continue to meet and pray with other believers who feel the same longing for something more real than we have experienced for longer than we care to remember. The cry of our hearts is *not* to live on our memories of incredible intimacy with God in years past, but to discover Him anew and in deeper ways than ever before. We are desperate for Him. In light of that hunger, the emptiness of our church experience, a church we'd attended for 17 years, was more than we could bear.

The Author again:

The above are just a smattering of the hundreds of emails I received on this subject from all over the world. Several days after I published the original article a Webmaster from France wrote saying he had translated it into French and put it on a French web-site. After that I started getting all kinds of emails in French - none of which I could read! Which just goes to show that this "Out-of-church" thing is a huge issue right across the Western world. Everywhere, it seems, people are hungering and thirsting for the REALITY of God, but sadly no longer finding it in our churches. What on earth is going on?

3. TWO WINDS
This is a prophetic word which was given over a decade ago by David Minor.  It is dated April 6, 1987.  This prophecy was published in The Morning Star 1988-89.  I feel it is very relevant for us today, as we see it being fulfilled before our eyes.

THE WINDS OF THE SPIRIT

By David Minor

This is a prophetic word which was given over a decade ago by David Minor.  It is dated April 6, 1987.  This prophecy was published in The Morning Star 1988-89.  I feel it is very relevant for us today, as we see it being fulfilled before our eyes.

“The Spirit of God would say to you that the wind of the Holy Spirit is blowing through the land.  The church, however, is incapable of fully recognizing this wind.  Just as your nation has given names to its hurricanes, so I have put My name on this wind.  This wind is named HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD.

Because of a lack of understanding, some of My people will try to find shelter from the wind, but in so doing, they shall miss My work.  For this wind has been sent to blow through every institution that has been raised in My name.  In those institutions that have substituted their name for Mine, they shall fall by the impact of My wind.  Those institutions shall fall like cardboard shacks in a gale.  Ministries that have not walked in uprightness before Me shall be broken and fall.

For this reason, man will be tempted to brand this as a work of Satan, but do not be misled; this is My wind.  I cannot tolerate My church in its present form, nor will I tolerate it.  Ministries and organizations will shake and fall in the face of this wind.  Even though some will seek to hide from that wind, they shall not escape.  It shall blow against your lives, and everything around you will appear to be crumbling, and so it shall.  But never forget this is my wind,” saith the Lord.  “With tornado force it will come and appear to leave devastation, but the Word of the Lord comes and says, ‘Turn your face into the wind and let it blow.’  For only that which is not of Me shall be devastated.  You must see this as necessary.

Be not dismayed, for after this, My wind shall blow again.  Have you not read how My breath blew on the valley of dry bones?  So it shall breathe on you.  This wind will come in equal force as the first wind.  This wind too will have a name.  It shall be called THE KINGDOM OF GOD.  It shall bring My government and order.  Along with that it shall be bring My power.  The supernatural shall come in that wind.  The world will laugh at you because of the devastation of that first wind, but they will laugh no more.  For this wind will come with force and power that will produce the miraculous among My people and the fear of God shall fall on the nation.

My people will be willing in the day of My power,” saith the Lord.  “In My first wind that is upon you now, I will blow out pride, lust, greed, competition, and jealousy and you will feel devastated, but haven’t you read, ‘Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.’?  So out of your poverty of spirit I will establish My kingdom.  Have you not read, ‘The Kingdom of God is in the Holy Ghost’?  So by My Spirit My kingdom will be established and made manifest.

Know this also, there will be those who shall seek to hide from this present wind, and they will try to flow with the second wind.  But again, they will be blown away by it.  Only those who have turned their faces into the present wind shall be allowed to be propelled by the second wind.  You have longed for revival and a return of the miraculous and the supernatural.  You and your generation shall see it, but it shall only come by My process.” saith the Lord.

The church of this nation cannot contain My power in its present form.  But as it turns to the wind of the Holiness of God, it shall be purged and changed to contain My glory.  This is judgment that has begun to the house of God, but this is not the end.  When the second wind has come and brought My harvest, then shall the end come.”

4. THE COMING DECEPTION
The following is an excerpt from a prophecy given at the Elim Bible Institute Summer Camp Meeting in 1965 by the late Stanley Frodsham. Brother Frodsham was a recognized prophet and teacher in the Body of Christ whose life and ministry spanned the Pentecostal Revival, the great Healing Revival and the early days of the Charismatic Movement. He also authored the well-known book, "Smith Wigglesworth: Apostle of Faith".

1965 VISION OF COMING DECEPTION

By Stanley Frodsham

The following is an excerpt from a prophecy given at the Elim Bible Institute Summer Camp Meeting in 1965 by the late Stanley Frodsham. Brother Frodsham was a recognized prophet and teacher in the Body of Christ whose life and ministry spanned the Pentecostal Revival, the great Healing Revival and the early days of the Charismatic Movement. He also authored the well-known book, "Smith Wigglesworth: Apostle of Faith".

(NOTE: This prophetic word was spoken by Stanley Frodsham who was a personal friend of Smith Wigglesworth. It was given in Chicago in 1965 five years before he died.)

Great Judgments

"With great judgments will I plead with the population of this country. Great darkness is coming upon the countries that have heard My gospel but no longer walk in it. My wrath shall come upon them. The darkness shall be so great and the anguish so sore that men shall cry out for death and shall not find it. There shall be a lingering death, famine and great catastrophes.

My wrath shall be manifested against all ungodliness. It shall come with great intensity. You have known my love but have not experienced My wrath or My severity. My judgments are literal and not a thing to be passed over lightly. Realise the severity of My judgments and My intense anger against the sin in My Household. My judgments shall begin in My House, for I will cleanse My House that it be not a partaker of My wrath against the iniquities of the cities. Before I visit the nations in judgment I will begin at My House. When I do cause My wrath to come upon the cities of the world My people shall be separate. I desire a people without spot or wrinkle and such will be preserved by Me in the time of My wrath, which will be coming upon all iniquity and unrighteousness.

I am going to prepare you for the coming days by a hard path that will cause many to cry out continually unto Me. For when the going is easy men do not seek Me, but rejoice in a temporary blessing. And when that blessing is removed they so often turn this way and that way but do not come to Me. I am showing you these things in order that you may seek Me continually and with great diligence. As you seek Me I will open up truths to you that you have not seen before, and these very truths will be such that will enable you to stand in these last days. As you are persecuted, reviled and rejected by your brethren then you will turn unto Me with all your heart and seek Me for that spiritual life that you need.
So that when the tribulation comes you will have that which will enable you to stand. For many will be tossed to and fro, men’s hearts shall fail them because of trouble on every hand. These days shall be very terrible the likes of which have never been seen before.

Coming Glory – and – Deceiving Spirits

When I visit My people in mighty revival power, it is to prepare them for the darkness ahead. With the Glory shall come great darkness, for the Glory is to prepare My people for the darkness. I will enable My people to go through the darkness because of the visitation of My Spirit. Take heed to yourselves lest you be puffed up and think that you have arrived. Many shall be puffed up as in the olden days, for then, many received My message but they did not continue in it. Did I anoint Jehu? Yet the things that I desired were not accomplished in his life. Listen to the messengers, but do not hold men’s persons in admiration or adulation. For many whom I shall anoint mightily with signs and miracles shall become lifted up and shall fall by the wayside. I do not this willingly for I have made provision that they might stand. I call many into this ministry and equip them, but remember that many shall fall. They shall be like bright lights and the people shall delight in them. But they shall be taken over by deceiving spirits and shall lead many of My people astray. Hearken diligently concerning these things, for in the last days shall come seducing spirits. They shall turn many of My anointed ones away, many shall fall through diverse lusts and because of ‘sin abounding'.

But if you will seek Me diligently I will put My Spirit within you so that when one shall turn to the right hand or to the left hand you shall not turn with them, but instead you will keep your eyes fixed wholly on your Lord. The coming days are going to be most dangerous, difficult and dark for there shall be a mighty outpouring of My Spirit in judgment upon many cities and many shall be destroyed. My people must be diligently warned concerning the days ahead. Many shall turn after seducing spirits and already many are seducing My people. It is those who ‘Do Righteousness’
that are righteous. Many cover their sins by great theological words. But I warn you of seducing spirits who instruct my people in an evil way. Many of these I will anoint that they in turn may purify and sift My people, for I will have a holy people. When I come I shall not find faith upon the earth but in a few, for when the time of testing comes many will depart from their Lord.

Many shall come with seducing spirits and hold out lustful enticements. You will find that after I have visited My people again the way will become more and more narrow, and fewer shall walk therein. Be not deceived, the ways of righteousness are My ways.
For though Satan come as an angel of light hearken not to him; for those who perform miracles and speak not righteousness are not of Me. I warn you with great intensity that I am going to judge My House and have a church without spot or wrinkle when I come.
I desire to open your eyes and give you spiritual understanding, that you may not be deceived but may walk with uprightness of heart before Me, loving righteousness and hating every evil way.
Look unto Me and I will make you to perceive with the eyes of the Spirit the things that lurk in darkness, that are not visible to the human eye. Let Me lead you in this way, that you may perceive the powers of darkness and battle against them. It is not a battle against flesh and blood, for if you battle in that way you accomplish nothing. But if you let Me take over and battle against the powers of darkness then they are defeated, and then liberation is brought to My people.

The Ways of Deceivers

I warn you to search the Scriptures diligently concerning these last days. For the things that are written shall indeed be made manifest. There shall come deceivers among My people in increasing numbers, who shall speak forth the truth and shall gain the favour of the people. For the people shall examine the Scriptures and say, ‘What these men say is true’. Then when they have gained the hearts of the people, then and then only shall they bring out their wrong doctrines. Therefore I say that you should not give your hearts to men, nor hold people’s persons in admiration or adulation. For by these very persons Satan shall gain entry into My people. Watch for seducers! Do you think a seducer will brandish a heresy and flaunt it before the people? He will speak words of righteousness and truth and will appear as a minister of light, declaring the Word. The people’s hearts shall be won. Then when the hearts are won, they will bring out their doctrines and the people shall be deceived. The people shall say ‘Did he not speak thus and thus’? ‘And did we not examine it from the Word’? ‘Therefore he is a minister of righteousness. This that he has now spoken we do not see in the Word but it must be right, for the other things he spoke were true’.

Be not deceived. For the deceiver will first work to gain the hearts of many, and then shall bring forth his insidious doctrines. You can not discern those who are of Me and those who are not of Me when they start to preach. But seek Me constantly, and when these doctrines are brought out you shall have a witness in your heart that these are not of Me. Fear not, for I have warned you. It is possible that the very elect may be deceived. But it is not possible if you walk in holiness and uprightness before the Lord, for then your eyes shall be open and the Lord will protect you. If you will constantly look unto the Lord you will know when the doctrine changes, and will not be brought into it. If your heart is right I will keep you, if you will look constantly to Me, I will uphold you.

The minister of righteousness shall be on this wise --- his life shall agree with the word, and his lips shall give forth that which is wholly true, there will be no mixture. When the mixture appears then you will know he is not a minister of righteousness. The deceivers speak first the truth and then error, to cover their own sins which they love. Therefore I exhort and command you to study the Scriptures relative to seducing spirits, for this is one of the great dangers of these last days.

I desire you to be firmly established in My word and not in the personalities of men, that you will not be moved as so many shall be moved. I would keep you in the paths of righteousness. Take heed to yourselves and follow not the seducing spirits that are already manifesting themselves. Diligently inquire of Me when you hear something that you have not seen in the word, and do not hold people’s persons in admiration, for it is by this very method that Satan will hold many of My people.

The Way of Triumph

I have come that you might have life and have it more abundantly, that you may triumph where I triumphed. On the cross I triumphed over all the powers of Satan and I have called you to walk in the same path. It is when your life is on the cross that you shall know the victory that I have experienced. As you are on the cross, seated in Me, then you shall know the power of the resurrection.
When I come in My Glory the principalities and powers in the heavenly places shall be utterly broken. Fear not, for I have given you the power whereby you may tread down the powers of darkness, and come forth victorious through every trial. As you are on the cross then you are victorious. It was on the cross that I triumphed over all the powers of the enemy. My life shall flow through as you enter into these precious truths. Look unto Me and appropriate My life. As your eyes and desires are toward Me and you know what it is to be crucified with Me, then you shall live and your anointing shall increase. It was not in My life as I walked upon the earth but rather it was in My life as I hung upon the cross that I openly spoiled principalities and powers.

I am showing you truth that shall cause you to overcome, to have power over the wicked one, this is the truth that will liberate you and those around you. You shall know also the fellowship of My sufferings. There is no other way whereby you may partake of this heavenly glory and to reign with Me. My word says that If we suffer with Him we shall reign with Him. I desire to make these truths real within you. As you keep them before you, you will in turn liberate many who are in bondage. You will have revelation of those who are in darkness and will have the keys to liberate the captives. Many seek to liberate but do not have the keys. Upon the cross continually you will know the power of My resurrection.

If you will indeed judge yourself you shall not be judged. As you seek My face and desire to be cleansed by Me in all truth and sincerity of heart, I will judge you in the secret place, and the things that are in the secret place of your heart shall not be made manifest to others. I will do it in the secret place and no man will know it. The shame that will be seen on many faces shall not be seen on your face. Therefore in mercy and love I am instructing you in order that you may partake of My Glory. As you are willing to walk with Me and rejoice in your sufferings, you shall in turn partake of My Glory. Look unto Me for you have need of power to overcome the wicked one and the bondages in other’s lives.

I said that if a man will judge himself he shall not be judged. It is not My good pleasure that the shame of My people be seen by all.

How can I judge the world if I judge not first My own house?
Hearken unto these things that I am telling you, for if you will not hearken unto Me thy shame shall be evident to all.

God’s Part and Our Part

I would have you consider My life on earth --- the anointing upon Me was great and yet the temptations were great on every side; they came in one form and then in another, offering Me first the glory of the kingdoms of the earth and then in the  form of reviling and persecution. There will be great glory given to My people but also the temptations will be intensified on every side. Think not that with the glory there shall be no temptations or persecutions.
The glory to My church shall be great and so also the temptations from the enemy to turn My people from My paths. I warn you again that when the glory shall be manifested the temptations shall be great until very few that started shall finish the course.

First of all they shall be offered great worldly possessions and then will come great revilings and unbelief.

Consider your Lord, that as He walked so it shall be for you. There shall be need of great intensity of purpose. At times it will seem that everyone is rising up against you, trying to turn you from the course that I have set for you. It is written of Me that I set my face as flint to go in the direction that My Father had prescribed for Me.
If you will finish the course the Lord has laid down for you, you too will have to set your face as a flint. With great determination you must walk in the course laid down for you. Many of your loved ones and those who follow with you will seek to persuade you and try to turn you from the course. With many words that seem right in the natural they will speak to you. Did not Christ rebuke Peter who would turn Him from the course God had prescribed?

Understand these two things and meditate upon them solemnly --- the persecution and the darkness shall be as great as the glory in order to try to turn the elect and the anointed ones from the path the Lord has laid down for them. Many shall start but few shall be able to finish because of the greatness of grace that shall be needed to be able to endure unto the end. The temptation and the persecution of your Lord was continuous. He was tempted by Satan in many forms throughout His entire life and even to the cross where the ungodly cried out ‘if thou be the Christ come down from the cross’. Think not that there will be a time of no persecution, for it shall be from the time of your anointing until the end. Difficulties and great persecution will go on to the end. The Lord must prepare you to be an overcomer in all things, that you may be able to finish the course. The persecution shall increase even as the anointing shall increase.

In paths of judgment and righteousness shall the Lord God lead His people and bring them into that place which He has chosen for them. The Lord has chosen a place for His people, a place of righteousness and holiness where He shall encamp around them.
All who will be led of the Lord will be brought into this holy place.
For the Lord delights to dwell in His people and to manifest Himself through His people. The holiness of the Lord will be manifested through His people. Let the Lord lead you and He will lead you in the difficult places. He led His people of old through a place where no man dwelt, where no man passed through, in a place of great danger and in the shadow of death. The Lord will indeed lead His people again through such places, and at the same time will bring them out into a place of great glory.
Understand that the way toward the glory is fraught with great danger and many shall fall to the right or the left, many shall camp on lesser ground. But the Lord has a place of holiness and no unclean thing shall dwell among His people.

Put your trust in Him and He will bring you into a place of holiness.
He desires to bring His people into a great glory --- the likes of which has never been seen, for this is what the Lord will do for those who put their trust in Him. It is a place of darkness and great danger and it will separate His people into the place where He would have them walk. He will protect them from the voices that would turn them from His path. He will bring them through the dark places and treacherous paths and lead them out into the light of His glory. He will rejoice greatly over His beloved and cause them to be filled with joy unspeakable. He seeks to lead His people into a new place of grace and glory where He will indeed encamp among them. Put your trust in Him and He will surely bring you into this new place.

Fear not the days to come, but fear this only --- that you shall walk in a manner pleasing to the Lord. In this time I am ordering and setting up My church and it shall indeed be pure, without spot or wrinkle. I will do a work in My beloved that has not been seen since the foundation of the world. I have shown you these things that you may seek the Lord diligently with all your heart, and that you may be a preserver of His people.

Run not to this one or that one for the Lord has so ordained that salvation is in Him and in Him alone. You shall not turn to this shepherd or to that one, for there shall be a great scattering upon the earth. Therefore look unto Him for He will indeed make these things clear to you. You shall not look here or there, for His Wells shall increase your strength and your faith as He prepares you for the times that are coming.

The truths that I have revealed to you must become a part of you --- not just an experience, but a part of your very nature. Is it not written that I demand truth in the inward parts? It is the truth of the Lord expressed in your very being that shall hold you. Many shall experience the truth but the truth must become a part of you, your very life. As men and women look upon you they will hear not only the voice but see the expression of the truth. Many shall be overcome because they are not constant in My ways and because they have not permitted the truths to become a part of them. I am showing you these things that you may be prepared, and having done all, to stand. "

5. REVIVAL END-TIMES VISION
The following is a stunning vision given to American preacher Tommy Hicks (who was a major figure in the powerful 1954 Argentina Revival).
"The greatest thing that the church of Jesus Christ has ever  been given lies straight ahead. It is so hard to help men and women to realize  and  understand the thing that God is trying to give his people in the end times."

The following is a stunning vision given to American preacher Tommy Hicks (who was a major figure in the powerful 1954 Argentina Revival).

VISION OF THE BODY OF CHRIST AND THE END-TIME MINISTRIES

My message begins July 25, about 2:30 in the morning at Winnipeg, Canada. I had hardly fallen asleep when the vision and the  revelation  that  God  gave  me came before me. The vision came three times, exactly in detail, the morning of July 25, 1961. I was  so stirred  and  so moved by the revelation that this has changed my complete outlook upon the body of Christ, and upon  the  end-time ministries.

The greatest thing that the church of Jesus Christ has ever  been
given lies straight ahead. It is so hard to help men and women to realize  and  understand the thing that God is trying to give his people in the end times.

I received a letter several weeks ago  from  one  of  our  native evangelists  down  in  Africa,  down in Nairobi. This man and his
wife were on their way to Tanganyika. They could neither read nor could  they  write,  but we had been supporting them for over two years. As they entered into the  territory  of  Tanganyika,  they came  across  a  small village. The entire village was evacuating because of a plague that had hit the village. He came across  natives that were weeping, and he asked them what was wrong.

They  told  him of their mother and father who had suddenly died, and they had been dead for three days. They had  to leave.  They were  afraid  to go in; they were leaving them in the cottage. He turned and asked them where they were. They pointed  to  the  hut and  he  asked  them  to go with him, but they refused. They were afraid to go.

The native and his wife went to this little cottage  and  entered in  where the man and woman had been dead for three days. He simply stretched forth his hand  in  the  name  of  the  Lord  Jesus Christ,  and  spoke the man's name and the woman's name and said, "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I  command  life  to  come back  to  your bodies."  Instantaneously these two heathen people who had never known Jesus Christ as their Savior sat up and immediately began to praise God. The spirit and the power of God came into the life of those people.

To us that may seem strange and a phenomenon, but that is the beginning  of  these  end-time ministries. God is going to take the do-nothings, the nobodies, the unheard-of, the no-accounts. He is going  to  take every man and every woman and he is going to give to them this outpouring of the Spirit of God.

In the book of Acts we read that  "In the last days,"  God  said, "I  will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh." I wonder if we realized what he meant when God said, "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh." I do not think I fully realized nor  could  I  understand the fullness of it, and then I read from the book of  Joel 2:23:

"Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord  your God: for he hath given you the former  rain  moderately,  and  he will cause to come down for you the rain, the  former  rain,  and the latter  rain".

It is not only going to  be  the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, but  he  is  going  to give  to  his  people  in these last days a double portion of the power of God!

As the vision appeared to me  after  I  was  asleep,  I  suddenly found  myself  in  a  great  high distance. Where I was, I do not know. But I was looking down upon the earth. Suddenly  the  whole earth  came  into  my  view.  Every  nation, every kindred, every tongue came before my sight from the east and the west, the north and  the south. I recognized every country and many cities that I had been in, and I was almost in fear and trembling  as  I  beheld the great sight before me: and at that moment when the world came into view, it began to lightning and thunder.

As the lightning flashed over the face  of  the  earth,  my  eyes went  downward and I was facing the north. Suddenly I beheld what looked like a great giant, and as I stared and looked  at  it,  I was  almost  bewildered  by  the sight. It was so gigantic and so great. His feet seemed to reach to the north pole and his head to the  south.  Its arms were stretched from sea to sea. I could not even begin to understand whether this be a mountain or this be  a giant, but as I watched, I suddenly beheld a great giant. I could see his head was struggling for life. He wanted to live, but  his body was covered with debris from head to foot, and at times this great giant would move his body and act as though it  would  even raise up at times. And when it did, thousands of little creatures seemed to run away. Hideous creatures would run  away  from  this giant, and when he would become calm, they would come back.

All  of a sudden this great giant lifted his hand towards heaven, and then it lifted its other hand, and when it  did  these  creatures by the thousands seemed to flee away from this giant and go into the darkness of the night.

Slowly this great giant began to rise and as he did, his head and hands  went  into the clouds. As he rose to his feet he seemed to have cleansed himself from the debris and  filth  that  was  upon him,  and  he began to raise his hands into the heavens as though praising the Lord, and as he raised his hands, they went even unto the clouds.

Suddenly,  every cloud became silver, the most beautiful silver I have ever known. As I watched this phenomenon it was so  great  I could  not  even  begin to understand what it all meant. I was so stirred as I watched it, and I cried unto the Lord  and  I  said, "Oh  Lord,  what  is the meaning of this." and I felt as if I was actually in the Spirit and I could feel the presence of the  Lord even as I was asleep.

And  from  those clouds suddenly there came great drops of liquid light raining down upon this mighty giant,  and  slowly,  slowly, this  giant began to melt, began to sink itself in the very earth itself, and as he melted,  his whole form seemed to  have  melted upon  the  face  of  the earth, and this great rain began to come down. Liquid drops of light began to flood the very earth  itself and  as I watched this giant that seemed to melt, suddenly it became millions of people over the face of the earth. As  I  beheld the sight before me, people stood up all  over  the  world!  They were lifting their hands and they were praising the Lord.

At that very moment there came a great  thunder  that  seemed  to roar  from  the  heavens. I turned my eyes toward the heavens and suddenly I saw a figure in white, in glistening white - the  most glorious thing that I have ever seen in my entire life. I did not see the face, but somehow I knew it was the  Lord  Jesus  Christ, and  he stretched forth his hand, and as he did, he would stretch it forth to one, and to  another,  and  to  another.  And  as  he stretched  forth  his hand upon the nations and the people of the world - men and women - as he pointed toward  them,  this  liquid light seemed to flow from his hands into them, and a  mighty  anointing of God came upon them, and those people began to go forth in the name of the Lord.

I  do not know how long I watched it. It seemed it went into days and weeks and months. And I beheld this Christ as he continued to stretch  forth his hand; but there was a tragedy. There were many people as he stretched forth his hand that refused the  anointing of God and the call of God. I saw men and women that I knew. People that I felt would certainly receive the call of God.  But  as he  stretched forth his hand toward this one and toward that one, they simply bowed their head and began to back away. And each  of those that seemed to bow down and back away, seemed  to  go  into darkness. Blackness seemed to swallow them everywhere.

I  was  bewildered  as I watched it, but these people that he had anointed, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world,  in Africa,  England, Russia, China, America, all over the world, the anointing of God was upon these people as they  went  forward  in the  name  of  the  Lord.  I saw these men and women as they went forth. They were ditch diggers, they were washerwomen, they  were rich  men,  they  were poor men. I saw people who were bound with paralysis and sickness and blindness and deafness.  As  the  Lord stretched  forth  to give them this anointing, they became  well, they became healed, and they went forth!

And this is the miracle of it - this is the glorious  miracle  of it  - those people would stretch forth their hands exactly as the

Lord did, and it seemed as if there was this same liquid fire  in their  hands. As they stretched forth their hands they said, "According to my word, be thou made whole."

As these people continued in this  mighty  end-time  ministry,  I did  not  fully realize what it was, and I looked to the Lord and said, "What is the meaning of this?" And he said, "This  is  that which  I  will  do  in the last days. I will restore all that the cankerworm, the palmer worm, the caterpillar - I will restore  all that  they have destroyed. This, my people, in the end times will go forth. As a mighty army shall they sweep over the face of  the earth."

As  I was at this great height, I could behold the whole world. I watched these people as they were going to and fro over the  face of  the earth. Suddenly there was a man in Africa and in a moment he was transported by the Spirit of God, and perhaps  he  was  in Russia,  or China or America or some other place, and vice versa. All over the world these people went, and they came through fire, and through pestilence, and through famine. Neither fire nor persecution, nothing seemed to stop them.

Angry mobs came to them with swords and with guns. And  like  Jesus,  they  passed through the multitudes and they could not find them, but they went forth in the name of the Lord, and everywhere they stretched forth their hands, the sick were healed, the blind eyes were opened. There was not a long prayer, and  after  I  had reviewed the vision many times in my mind, and I thought about it many times, I realised that I never saw a church, and I never saw or heard a denomination, but these people were going in the  name of the Lord of Hosts. Hallelujah!

As  they  marched forth in everything they did as the ministry of Christ in the end times, these people  were  ministering  to  the multitudes  over  the  face of the earth. Tens of thousands, even millions seemed to come to the Lord Jesus Christ as these  people stood  forth  and  gave the message of the kingdom, of the coming kingdom, in this last hour. It was so glorious, but it  seems  as though there were those that rebelled, and they would become  angry and they tried to  attack  those  workers  that  were  giving the message.

God is going to give the world a demonstration in this last  hour as the world has never known. These men  and  women  are  of  all walks  of life, degrees will mean nothing. I saw these workers as they were going over the face of the earth. When one would  stumble  and  fall, another would come and pick him up. There were no "big I" and "little you," but every mountain was brought low  and every  valley  was  exalted, and they seemed to have one thing in common - there was a divine love, a divine love  that  seemed  to flow forth from these people as they worked together, and as they lived together. It was the most glorious sight that I  have  ever known.  Jesus  Christ was the theme of their life. They continued and it seemed the days went by as I stood and beheld this  sight.
I  could  only  cry, and sometimes I laughed. It was so wonderful as these people went throughout the  face  of  the  whole  earth, bringing forth in this last end time.

As  I  watched from the very heaven itself, there were times when great deluges of this liquid light seemed to fall upon great congregations,  and  that congregation would lift up their hands and seemingly praise God for hours and even days as the Spirit of God came upon them. God said, "I will pour my Spirit upon all flesh," and that is exactly this thing. And to every man and every  woman that  received this power, and the anointing of God, the miracles of God, there was no ending to it.

We have talked about miracles. We have  talked  about  signs  and wonders, but I could not help but weep as I read again this morning, at 4 o'clock this morning the letter from our  native  workers.  This  is  only the evidence of the beginning for one man, a "do-nothing, an unheard-of," who would go and stretch  forth  his hand  and  say,  "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command life to flow into your body." I dropped to my knees and began  to pray  again,  and  I said, "Lord, I know that this time is coming soon!"

And  then again, as these people were going about the face of the earth, a great persecution seemed to come from every angle.

Suddenly there was another great clap of thunder, that seemed  to resound around the world, and I heard again the voice, the  voice that  seemed to speak, "Now this is my people. This is my beloved bride." And when the voice spoke, I looked upon the earth  and  I could see the lakes and the mountains. The graves were opened and people from all over the world, the saints of all ages, seemed to be  rising.  And  as they rose from the grave, suddenly all these people came from every direction. From the  east  and  the  west, from the north and the south, and they seemed to be forming again this gigantic body. As the dead in Christ  seemed  to  be  rising first, I could hardly comprehend it. It was so marvelous. It was

so far beyond anything I could ever dream or think of.

But as this body suddenly began to form, and  take  shape  again, it  took  shape  again in the form of this mighty giant, but this time it was different. It was arrayed in the most beautiful  gorgeous  white.  Its  garments  were without spot or wrinkle as its body began to form, and the people of all ages seemed to be gathered  into  this body, and slowly, slowly, as it began to form up into the very heavens, suddenly from the heavens above, the  Lord Jesus  came,  and  became  the  head, and I heard another clap of thunder that said, "This is my beloved  bride  for  whom  I  have waited. She will  come forth even tried by fire. This is she that I have loved from the beginning of time."

As I watched, my eyes suddenly turned to the  far  north,  and  I saw  seemingly  destruction:  men and women in anguish and crying out, and buildings in destruction. Then I heard again, the fourth voice that said, "Now is My wrath being poured out upon the  face of the earth." From the ends of the whole world, the wrath of God seemed to be poured out and it seemed that there were great vials of God's wrath being poured out upon the face of the earth. I can remember  it  as  though  it  happened  a moment ago. I shook and trembled as I beheld the awful sight of seeing  the  cities,  and whole nations going down into destruction.

I  could  hear  the weeping and wailing. I could hear people crying. They seemed to cry as they went into caves, but the caves in the mountains opened up.

They  leaped  into  water,  but  the  water would not drown them. There was nothing that could destroy them. They were wanting  to take their lives, but they could not. Then  again  I  turned  my eyes to this glorious sight, this body arrayed in beautiful white, shining garments. Slowly, slowly,  it began  to  lift  from  the  earth, and as it did, I awoke. What a sight I had beheld! I had seen the end-time ministries - the last hour.  Again on July 27, at 2:30 in the morning, the same revelation, the same vision came again exactly as it did before.

My life has been changed as I realised  that  we  are  living  in that  end  time,  for all over the world God is anointing men and women with this ministry. It will not be doctrine. It will not be a  churchianity.  It  is going to be Jesus Christ. They will give
forth the word of the Lord, and are going to say, "I heard it  so many  times  in  the  vision and according to my word it shall be done."

6. THE POST-CHARISMATIC ERA
The September 1st edition of "The Morning Star", (Rick Joyner's newsletter) was headlined "The Post-Charismatic Era". There, Paul Cain, the well-known Vineyard "prophet" informed us that "the charismatic renewal is now over but God is going to move again and speak again, even to the very ones who rejected Him in the last movement."

Paul Cain teaches the Ishmael/Isaac Concept

The September 1st edition of "The Morning Star", (Rick Joyner's newsletter) was headlined "The Post-Charismatic Era". There, Paul Cain, the well-known Vineyard "prophet" informed us that "the charismatic renewal is now over but God is going to move again and speak again, even to the very ones who rejected Him in the last movement."

Paul Cain goes on to confess that "some foolishness" has accompanied this movement that "requires humility for us to press beyond". Some of this foolishness was mere human folly, he claims and an unnecessary stumbling block to sincere seekers. However, "The Lord is going to give us another opportunity to do it right. We will again, very soon, see multitudes being converted and being empowered with the Holy Spint".

Isaac And Ishmael

It's quite something to see leading charismatics admitting that there have been mistakes in the movement. Often, the problems have been passed off as minor aberrations instead of characteristics of the movement as a whole. Objections have been brushed aside. Critics have been accused of "quenching the Spirit" and "opposing the work of God". Now it seems they had some ground for their objections, but the answer proposed is not to control the excesses but write off the movement as an "lshmael", and look for the "Isaac" to come.

This new era, the post-charismatic new man, was preached at a Conference in London in October 1992. A group of churches in north-west London organised "The Word and the Spirit" meeting at the Wembley Conference Centre. It consisted of seminars in the morning and leaders' meetings in the afternoon, followed by an open meeting in the evening. The two main speakers were Dr. R.T. Kendall and Paul Cain, who has recently joined Westminster Chapel in London.

The title of the Conference - "The Word and The Spirit" - was explained by the speakers' remarks that they aimed to combine these two elements, theology and power. Dr. Kendall said that he had told Paul Cain, "Paul, you need my theology and I need your power".

The early Pentecostal pioneer, Smith Wigglesworth, long ago predicted a revival in the latter days involving both the Bible and the power of the Holy Spirit. Can it be that Paul Cain, moving in the supernatural realm, and R.T. Kendall, a renowned Bible scholar from the Reformed tradition, see themselves as the springboard for just such a revival?

This brings into focus an entirely new picture - that of the Reformed and Independent Evangelical traditions, previously so opposed to the charismatic movement, dropping their objections in a new and more forceful drive to unite all Christians under one banner.

At the London meeting, the present charismatic movement was likened to Ishmael. Taking Genesis 17 as his text, Dr Kendall pointed out that, while God affirmed Hagar [but see Gal 4:30] nevertheless Ishmael was not the promised child. Now, the barren old Church (Sarah) is about to conceive and bring forth the Isaac, and this child - the post-Charismatic movement - will be far superior to Ishmael, in four ways:

(a) it will defy all natural explanation.

(b) it will be totally vindicated by signs, wonders and miracles on a large and dramatic scale

(c) it will drive us back to the Word

(d) it will bring a sense of awe, as we see the marriage of Word and power. It is impossible to explain how glorious this new era will be.

The result of this Isaac revival is that "the glory of the Lord will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea".

[Note: It is relevant that the name "Isaac" means LAUGHTER. At the time of Cain's prediction, the Laughter Revival had already begun in a few unnoticed fellowships in the States and overseas. It came to public notice around the end of 1993.]

When Paul Cain spoke, his main concern was that God would clear His name, and He is going to do it through a "last-days" ministry of such power and might that none will dispute it, Cain claimed. Dr Kendall in an earlier message had sought to show that the Name of God was synonymous with miracle-working power.

The power present in the new movement would be far greater than in the old, he said. "when we consider how God has blessed the Church through the charismatic and pentecostal movements, how many wonderful end thrilling things have come... what will Isaac be like?" ~ Indeed, we do wonder!

Cain outlined some of the results of the new era, including governments and people in highest places coming on bended knee to the Church, children used as "sovereign vessels" of power, ordinary Christians equipped with prophetic gifts and all places - even those hitherto untouched - being reached with the message. (Many of these prophecies were also spoken by Paul Cain in his "Joel's Army" teachings, but the Ishmael/Isaac idea is said to have originated with Mike Bickle, another Kansas City Prophet.)

Cain said that a number of people in the audience would put Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield and John Wesley in the shade in the new wave of revival.

Paul Cain also predicted mass healings, empty hospital wards and countless numbers of people seeking after God, including "millions of islams" with whole nations turning to God in one day.

7. LIVING LAODICEA - A REVELATION OF THE LAST MOVE "I saw in the Spirit, a globe - a globe of the world. Surrounding the globe was a thin layer of cloud. Suddenly the clouds began to gather. The clouds deepened. The winds blew. A chill was in the air. A thunderstorm was emerging. Soon, there was only one cloud over the globe - a large thundercloud. A storm is approaching the earth. The Holy Spirit said, 'Look in the Spirit. What do you see?' I looked. I saw nothing; so I replied, 'Nothing.' The Spirit spoke again, gently, 'Look again.' I looked. I saw a large, china jar in the Spirit. It was empty inside. Then I saw another jar, but broken. Then the Spirit spoke: 'Much of the doctrine today is like that jar - beautiful to behold, but no substance; it is found wanting in My balances. Look at the other jar. Indeed this doctrine will be like the broken jar. All will see it and say, 'Behold the jar. Look. It has no substance. '

Revival Prophecy

Preface
I saw in the Spirit, a globe - a globe of the world.
Look. It has no substance.'
The Spirit showed me a chariot in the Spirit. A horse-driven chariot. The dust rose as it moved over the plain. Then the Spirit spoke:

'The chariot is rushing on,
the horses run furiously;
when all things must be
fulfilled.'

Then the Spirit explained what this meant: 'The last move is here. The end has come. A glorious hour - an hour in which some will weep in sorrow and in anguish of soul. For, indeed, in this hour, a sword will pierce the hearts of many.'  A book (prophecy) titled "Living Laodicea - a Revelation of the Last Move" will be emailed in pdf format to those who give $30 USD. 1968 Prophecies of the Last Days

1968 PROPHECIES of the LAST DAYS

These two interesting prophecies were given long ago in Norway:

JESUS is COMING SOON (SUDDENLY)

An old woman of 90 from Valdres in Norway had a vision from God in 1968. The evangelist Emanuel Minos had meetings (services) where she lived. He had the opportunity to meet her, and she told him what she had seen. He wrote it down, but thought it to be so unintelligible that he put it in a drawer. Now, almost 30 years later, he understands he has to share the vision with others.

The woman from Valdres was a very alert, reliable, awake and credible Christian, with a good reputation among all who knew her.

This is what she saw:

"I saw the time just before the coming of Jesus and the outbreak of the Third World War. I saw the events with my natural eyes. I saw the world like a kind of a globe and saw Europe, land by land.
I saw Scandinavia. I saw Norway. I saw certain things that would take place just before the return of Jesus, and just before the last calamity happens, a calamity the likes of which we have never before experienced.

She mentioned four waves:

1. "First before Jesus comes and before the Third World War breaks out there will be a ‘détente’ like we have never had before.
There will be peace between the super powers in the east and the west, and there will be a long peace. (Remember, that this was in 1968 when the cold war was at its highest. E. Minos) In this period of peace there will be disarmament in many countries, also in Norway and we are not prepared when it (the war) comes. The Third World War will begin in a way no one would have anticipated - and from an unexpected place.

2. "A lukewarmness without parallel will take hold of the Christians, a falling away from true, living Christianity. Christians will not be open for penetrating preaching. They will not, like in earlier times, want to hear of sin and grace, law and gospel, repentance and restoration. There will come a substitute instead: prosperity (happiness) Christianity.

"The important thing will be to have success, to be something; to have material things, things that God never promised us in this way. Churches and prayer houses will be emptier and emptier.
Instead of the preaching we have been used to for generations - like, to take your cross up and follow Jesus, - entertainment, art and culture will invade the churches where there should have been gatherings for repentance and revival. This will increase markedly just before the return of Jesus.

3. "There will be a moral disintegration that old Norway has never experienced the likes of. People will live together like married without being married. (I do not believe the concept ‘co-habitor’? existed in 1968 - E. Minos.) Much uncleanness before marriage, and much infidelity in marriage will become the natural (the common), and it will be justified from every angle. It will even enter Christian circles and we pet it - even sin against nature. Just before Jesus' return there will be TV-programs like we have never experienced. (TV had just arrived in Norway in 1968. E. Minos)

"TV will be filled with such horrible violence that it teaches people to murder and destroy each other, and it will be unsafe in our streets. People will copy what they see. There will not be only one ‘station’ on TV, it will be filled with ‘stations.’ (She did not know the word ‘channel’ which we use today. Therefore she called them stations. E. Minos.) TV will be just like the radio where we have many ‘stations,’ and it will be filled with violence. People will use it for entertainment. We will see terrible scenes of murder and destruction one of the other, and this will spread in society. Sex scenes will also be shown on the screen, the most intimate thing that takes place in a marriage." (I protested and said, we have a paragraph that forbids this kind of thing. E. Minos.) There the old woman said: "It will happen, and you will see it. All we have had before will be broken down, and the most indecent things will pass before our eyes."

4. "People from poor countries will stream to Europe. (In 1968 there was no such thing as immigration. E. Minos.) They will also come to Scandinavia - and Norway. There will be so many of them that people will begin to dislike them and become hard with them.
They will be treated like the Jews before the Second World War.
Then the full measure of our sins will have been reached (I protested at the issue of immigration. I did not understand it at the time. E. Minos.)

The tears streamed from the old woman’s eyes down her cheeks.
"I will not see it, but you will. Then suddenly, Jesus will come and the Third World War breaks out. It will be a short war." (She saw it in the vision.)

"All that I have seen of war before is only child’s play compared to this one, and it will be ended with a nuclear atom bomb. The air will be so polluted that one cannot draw one’s breath. It will cover several continents, America, Japan, Australia and the wealthy nations. The water will be ruined (contaminated?). We can no longer till the soil. The result will be that only a remnant will remain. The remnant in the wealthy countries will try to flee to the poor countries, but they will be as hard on us as we were on them.

"I am so glad that I will not see it, but when the time draws near, you must take courage and tell this. I have received it from God, and nothing of it goes against what the Bible tells.

"The one who has his sin forgiven and has Jesus as Savior and Lord, is safe."

WHEN the OIL FLOWS

An elder in the Pentecostal Church at Moss, Norway, Martin Andersen, heard the following prophecy in 1937, in Moss:

‘When oil comes out of the North Sea and along the Norwegian coast, things will begin to happen, and the return of Jesus is approaching.’

When these words had been proclaimed, people stood up in the congregation and asked the man to sit down and not speak such nonsense. In 1937 it was indeed nonsense to talk about oil being pumped along the Norwegian coast. Today all the world’s big oil companies are pumping oil along the coast of Norway. Norway is the world’s third greatest exporter of oil - after Saudi Arabia.

The sum of it all is: Jesus is coming soon (suddenly).

Editor’s note:
I have found in my own research that the first account was published by the Christian Information Service in Germany. The web site of Dr. Emanuel Minos is active today and can be accessed for verification. Although the language on this site is Norwegian, the very similar story of the woman and her vision is posted there in English... Ragna took it upon herself to verify as much of the above information as she could.

1855 Hudson Taylor / 1947 Smith Wigglesworth Vision

HUDSON TAYLOR'S VISION 1855

This vision was received while he was preaching in Britain, on furlough from China.
'I have seen a vision. I saw in this vision a great war that encompasses the world. I saw this war recede and then start again, actually being two wars. after this I saw much unrest and revolts that will affect many nations. I saw in some places spiritual awakenings.
'In Russia I saw there will come a general all-encompassing national spiritual awakening spread to many European countries. Then I saw an all-out awakening, followed by the coming of Christ.'

THE GREAT REVIVAL - SMITH WIGGLESWORTH.

This prophecy was given at the annual Elim conference in 1947
'During the next few decades there will be two distinct moves of the Holy Spirit across the church in Great Britain.
The first move will affect every church that is open to receive it and will be characterized by a restoration of the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit
'The second move of the holy Spirit will result in people leaving historic churches and planting new churches.
'In the duration of each of these moves, the people involved will say, "This is a great revival." But the Lord says, "No, neither is the great revival but both are steps towards it."
'When the new church phase is on the wane, there will be evidenced in the churches something that has not been seen before: a coming together of those with an emphasis on the Word and those with an emphasis on the Spirit.
'When the Word and the Spirit come together, there will be the biggest movement of the Holy Spirit that the nation, indeed the world has even seen. It will mark the beginning of a revival that will eclipse anything that has been witnessed within these shores, even the Wesleyan and the Welsh revivals of former years. The outpouring of God's Spirit will flow over from the United Kingdom to the mainland of Europe, and from there will begin a missionary move to the ends of the earth.'

1988 Dr. Walter Martins Warning to the Church

1988 Dr. Walter Martins Warning to the Church

If you have your Bible, if you have your Bible I'd like you to turn with me to Acts chpt. 20. I'd like to read a few verses from this passage which I believe are very apropos today.

Talking to the elders in the church of Ephesus as he is preparing to go to Jerusalem where he will be bound by the Jews, and later to die. The apostle writes these words or speaks these words and Luke records them. I take you to record this day v.26, Acts 20:26. That is a direct quote from Ezek. 34 where the scripture says if you do not warn the wicked man of his wicked and he dies in his sin, I will hold you accountable for it. So we are suppose to warn the wicked of the wickedness they perform and also of the judgment of God upon them. If we don't we become accessories after the fact of their sins. |

So, Ezek. 34 is what Paul is definitely referring to. I want you to know I am free from the blood of all mankind because I am giving you the whole counsel take heed there unto yourselves and all the flock unto which the Holy Spirit has made you rulers. The Greek word episcopos- a ruler to fend or tend therefore the church of God which he has purchased with his own blood. "For I know this after I leave you savage wolves shall enter in among you and will not spare the flock." No mercy and notice this from your own selves men shall arise speaking contrary things to draw away disciples after themselves. Therefore watch and remember for a period of three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day to the point of tears." Now there is a twofold warning to the Christian Church.

Now we are speaking this morning on the warnings of God, the warnings of God. This passage tells you that after the apostles would leave the Church there would be savage wolves, they are characterized as wolves. Ravenous wolves who will enter in, and they will not spare the flock. Which means they will attack the flock from without, they will penetrate the sheepfold and they will chew up the sheep. Now that’s as clear as crystal right here. I know this after I leave, this is going to happen.

We have those savage wolves today. We have theologians in theological Seminaries and departments of religions of schools who literally chew up the flock. They chew up the people who are studying for the ministry and then they spit them out into our pulpits where they can chew us up. These are the savage wolves who come in not sparing the flock. Apostate’s in positions of authority in the Christian Church. Apostate’s who advocate the ordination of homosexuals, forbidden and cursed of God. Apostate’s who deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Apostate’s who will ordain you if you deny the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the virgin birth, the bodily resurrection, and the 2nd coming. Apostate’s who dominate our denominational structures and our educational institutions. Apostate’s who have come in and are chewing up the church. That is very clearly stated here that we are to lookout for these people. Paul said I warned you day and night for three years to the point of tears. Very important.

Now there is a 2nd part of this that is seldom preached on because when you preach on it people get upset in my ministry what else is new. It’s an occupational hazard because you have to tell them the whole counsel of God. Notice Paul’s emphasis here, "I have not avoided declaring unto you verse 27 "all or the whole counsel of God." The whole counsel of God is to warn against the savage wolves, cultists occultists, non Christian religionists, atheistic and skeptical philosophers, psychologists whatever they may be, who have attacked the church from without and some have penetrated and chewed up the church.

Now there's a 2nd warning from God, this warning is one the Church has paid very little attention to and because we have paid so little attention to it, it has thrived and become lethal. Why? Because what's close to you that you don't see, it does you far more harm than something you can get in perspective and easily identify. So let’s take a good look at what he saying here. From your own selves v.30 you ought to mark church itself, men will arise. It does not say possibly, could, he said will arise. They will speak contrary the meaning of the word in the Greek, King James says perversion, the word in the Greek is contrary. They will speak contrary things for the purpose of drawing disciples after them selves.

So the warning of God is against people in the church in positions of leadership and respect. Who will draw disciples surrounding themselves, whose allegiance is not to Christ, but to that person. And they will draw the disciples after themselves from within the church so that there is no accountability for what they say. Now this isn't my message this is the Pauline counsel to the Church at Ephesus. Warnings from the Holy Spirit. Look out for the wolves and lookout for the divisive schismatic leaders who will split and fragment and divide the church by attracting disciples to follow them.

Now the Scripture has many statements about false teachings and false prophets. Mat.7 gives one of the most frightening passages in all divine revelation it says and this is the lord Jesus speaking on the subject ( --- dressed as sheep but inwardly or spiritually you are dealing with savage wolves, you will know them by what they produce). Now Jesus has said something else that the Church has forgotten today. Jesus said in my name or if you want the actual meaning of the Greek text, by my authority- name means authority.

When you say "stop in the name of the Law" to criminal fleeing, you are saying stop by the authority of what? The law. The law says you can't do that. Stop! When a King pronounces judgment in Old Testament times and recent times until kings went out of fashion. In the world a ruler person would say open the door in the name of the king….

Alright once you get that concept in you mind Jesus said there will come men who will speak claiming their authority is from me. Now get that in your head carefully. There will come men who will speak in my name. That is, I am supposedly saying this to you, that is a very important phrase. There going to come and say I'm speaking to you in Jesus in my name they will work miracles in my name they will cast out devils… they will prophesy and preach. But when I meet them I will say leave me I never knew you workers of iniquity.

Why? Because they use his authority and his name, because the power was in Jesus name, or Jesus' authority not in them. And God honoured the name of his Son. And they took that as a means of teaching there own false doctrines and false prophecies and because of that they corrupted the faith of the church. But inwardly, spiritually, they really roooaaar! And if you don't know fleece from fur your dinner, dumb drum. And the only way you can know fleece from fur is to know how to test them. You don't test them by Walter Martin, or by Norman Geisler, as good as the apologist and defenders of Christianity might be and as much as you trust them. You don't test them by other people, you test them by Scripture.

Then if your fidelity is the Scripture, and your allegiance is the Scripture, you reject them! But says Paul in the last days, men are going to be drawn away by false teachers and prophets in the church speaking in the name of Jesus. And you’re not going to test them you’re going to go along with them. And there gonna fragment and divide the Church because you wont' test them.

Well its about time that we test them.

Kenneth Copeland delivered the following prophecy during a three day victory campaign held in Dallas Texas. It is reproduced in the Voice of Victory 20th anniversary of his ministry. Found on page 9 his prophecy came from Jesus Christ, Copeland says, He quotes Jesus as saying:

"You remember in my word I said to my disciples this kind comes not out by prayer and fasting." He's talking now about the power of prayer. He goes on "Don't be disturbed (this is Jesus) when people accuse you of being God. The more you get to be like me God. But I didn’t claim I was God; I just claimed I walked with Him and that He was in Me. Hallelujah."

That is a lying spirit. Look at me read my lips. That is a lying spirit. That is not the Holy Spirit. Now for ten years I have warned and I'm on tape and in print on this. That we were heading into the kingdom of the cults with the faith teachers. You are no longer heading there baby, you are there!

Just so you are not mistaken let me give it to you again. Jesus speaking:

"The more you get to be like me (Jesus) the more there going to think that way of you. They crucified me for claiming that I was God. But I didn’t claim I was God; I just claimed I walked with Him and that He was in Me. Hallelujah." That’s what your doing."

Now this was on TBN this on Christian Television and radio stations. This is tolerated by the Christian Church, particularly the charismatic wing because they will not obey the Lord Jesus Christ and they will not obey; what the Scripture says. They are taken by people and ministries. And by large crowds and jet airplanes and by affluence as supposedly the seal of success. If you’re big and you’re powerful and you’re rich and people come to hear you, automatically it must be from God. No! Automatically it isn't from God. You’re supposed to test what the person says by Scripture. And if you don't test it by Scripture you can be taking in spiritual arsenic or cyanide and it can ruin your Christian life and take your eyes off Christ. The Scripture says it will overturn the faith in the Church.

This is far beyond doctrinal disputes. He speaks it in the name of Jesus. He's a liar, and the truth is not in him. Isa. 8:20 "If they do not speak according to this word they have, what? NO light in them," in fact the Hebrew says there is no dawn.
What deceives people about these false prophets is that out one side of their mouth they preach the gospel and out of the other side of their mouth they deny him who is the core of the gospel. And if you don’t put the two sides together you think you’re hearing Christianity. But you’re not!. The false prophets know that to get crowds they have to preach Christianity. The false prophets know that in order to have financial support they have got to get the church to contribute to them. So they will sound like the Church and they will prophesy in Jesus name, they will heal in Jesus name they will work miracles in Jesus name and then at the proper they will deny him.

How do you know he's a false prophet? It’s easy he said so. I wonder if people who read this THOUGHT! THOUGHT!
"They crucified me for claiming I was God, but I didn't claim I was God." He didn't? That’s strange language, John chapter 8, "your father Abraham rejoiced to se my day coming he saw it and he was glad. But they said your not even 50 years old yet. You saw Abraham?" Jesus said, "before Abraham came into existence I AM." And they reach for stones to kill him. Who'd they think he was? Obviously God. John Chpt.10 "for thy Good works we stone thee not but for blasphemy. That you being a man make yourself out to be", Who? GOD!

Now we are dealing here with the doctrine of antichrist. And its not coming from an apostate professor of a theological seminary its not coming from a Jehovah's Witness that knocks on your door. It's not coming from the Mormon missionary that peddles up. Its coming from Kenneth Copeland on your television set on your radio and in print and if you resist the false doctrines of antichrist elsewhere, why will you not resist here?

The answer is very simple because people hear the gospel being preached and they automatically assume that the person preaching is a true prophet of God. No Jesus said, the false prophets can do it. They only way you can find out is test them. I've not avoided declaring to you the whole counsel of God for the space of ten years. I have told you day and night to the point of rage.

Now it’s come full circle. There it is. Quote on TBN "Dogs beget dogs cats beget cats, and God beget Gods, you are little Gods." Close quote. That’s Kenneth Copeland on your television set. You are Gods!

No you’re not, your sinners saved by grace. And he's not a God, he's a sinner professing to be a Christian, and denying in prophesy in the name of Jesus what Jesus said. That’s a false prophet, I don't care how you spell it, if you say but look at the healings, look at the meetings, look at the miracles. READ Matthew Chapter 7, use your brains. Jesus said that’s exactly what's going to happen, there going to preach and prophesy in my name. They do! In my name there gonna work miracles, they do. In my name they cast out devils, they do! And then they deny Him. Jesus said look out for them, because they’re here! And they are here now. They are on our television sets our radios and print.

Now the question is, will you tolerate it? We should be bombarding TBN and every Christian channel that produces and distributes this stuff. And we should be telling them we will not support the doctrine of the Anti-Christ. You may not do this with my money, and furthermore I'm not going to send any money. And then in addition to that I'm going to actively discourage everybody I know from sending you any money. And when you hold financial support they listen, but not until.

So I'm suggesting over the Bible Answer Man program that we start holding support to people and ministries that do this. And I'm going to get a lot of flak, you’re going to hear a lot of people coming after me, and I want you to know, I could care less. This is the TRUTH, what I'm telling you is the truth and if it is a voice crying in the wilderness it’s the truth. And the Holy Spirit will see to it that they will listen. Because I am a prophetic voice in this and have been for decades, of course I don't for a moment believe I am a prophet, anymore than I believe I am an apostle. I'm a teacher, but you can speak with a prophetic voice, you can exercise apostolic office in given situations.

Believe me we’re in trouble, and if we don't something about really quickly your going to be in more trouble than you know what to do with. Because people keep accepting these as Christian representatives. What we’re getting is the doctrine of anti-Christ. If you deny that you don't know your Bible.

Jesus says through Copeland "I never claimed to be God." That is not the Jesus of the Bible, you want me to tell you who it is, turn in your Bible to 2 Cor.11, I will tell you who it is. V.3 "But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, … a different spirit … a different gospel" ….Then he goes on to say that there are false apostles, deceitful workman who transform themselves on the outside to look like the ministers of Christ but inwardly you are dealing with the imitation of Satan.

I don't bring judgment or play God, that is not my role or yours. But if Jesus Christ said it and the New Testament teaches it and it is Biblical theology and we reiterate what the text says we are not playing God, we are being faithful to what God said.

Is Kenneth Copeland a Christian? If he is a Christian let him repent! Let him apologize to the church, let him forsake these false doctrines. He is not a God, he lies when he says anyone in the Church is a God. He lies when he says Jesus Christ gave him this prophesy, this did not come from the Lord Jesus Christ.

The apostle Paul calls Jesus our great God and savior Titus 2:13. Acts chapter 20 which I just read says, God purchased the Church with his own blood. Well who died on the cross? God in human flesh and purchased the Church with his own blood. The whole new testament declares the deity of Jesus Christ. "In the beginning was the word and the word with God and the word was God." And Kenneth Copeland knows it as well as I do! But he's denying it, when you take your eyes off Scripture as the criterion for authority and you place it on experience and on people, and on revelations, and on messages that allegedly come from God, you are a set up for deception, you’re made for it. Because you don't have any way to check it. But you must check it.

The title of his article is "Take time to pray." That’s the title "Take time to pray." No take time to obey, take time to obey Christ and to obey him is to proclaim him Lord of all. I am the alpha and omega the beginning and the end the first and the last the Almighty Rev. 1:7-8. Who is He? "He is coming with Clouds and every eye shall see him and he is the almighty." Well that’s what Christ said about himself. Thomas said my Lord and my Jehovah. And worships him and Jesus said because you have seen me you believe Blessed is they that have not seen and believe.

Kenneth Copeland quoted every one of these verses and then in a prophecy originating with Jesus Christ he can deny the identity of Jesus Christ. You are now dealing with false prophets. I don’t presume to judge the eternal destiny of men that is not our task but I will tell you one thing Biblically speaking If you say you are Christ’s property then you have Christ’s spirit. Romans 8:9. And whoever does not have Christ’s spirit is not Christ’s property. Christ’s spirit does not deny Jesus Christ. Christ’s spirit exalts him. This is a denial of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is Jesus speaking "I never said I was God, never claimed to be God." No that’s a lie, "let God be true and every man a liar."

I want a repudiation of this and a removal of these men from the Trinity Broadcasting Network station until they apologize to the Christian Church and repent of this evil. And if they won’t, then it must be the task of the Christian Church to oppose them vigorously, publicly. And tell it to the whole Church. And read this until people can’t stand to hear it anymore. Until they will act on it. Don’t you dare talk about fidelity to Jesus Christ, and love to Jesus Christ and allegiance to Jesus Christ and sit by while men deny him! You’re gonna be consistent then be consistent in obedience.

You may sit here and say "You sound very angry!" I am. I may be one of God’s last angry men, but I’m angry for the right reason. I’m in the presence of the doctrines of the anti-Christ and I plan to be angry that way the rest of my life. And if you don’t hear me angry about those kinds of doctrines please come and tell me as quickly as possible, because I have defected from the ministry.

So I’m going to ask you to covenant with me in prayer that God will bring Kenneth Copeland to repentance for this blasphemy and there may be a open apology and repudiation of it in the Christian Church. And then until this is done we will remain constant in prayer and we will not support what we know to be evil doctrine. If we do that God will bless us and honour us, if we don’t do it were gonna reap an awful harvest.

This morning was a very difficult message to preach, the warnings of God. Because whenever you talk this way you bound to be misinterpreted and people are bound to think somehow or another you’ve got some ax to grind and your after somebody’s neck. I’m not but if I sit still in the presence of the doctrine of antichrist I’m an accessory to those doctrines and I fall under the condemnation of Acts chpt.20.

If you go further into revelation chpt.2 later on, you will find that the Holy Spirit commends the Church in Ephesus, above all the seven Churches because they tested these people, just as Paul told them to and they found out they were liars. And the Spirit says, good job, you did what you were suppose to do and he commends the Ephesians for it.

May God make us faithful in the tradition of the Ephesians. The lord Jesus Christ paid the price for all sin on the cross. The Lord Jesus Christ rose victoriously from the dead for our redemption we are saved by his life. The Lord Jesus Christ has given us spirit so we can walk with him, he has also given us his spirit so we might discern evil, as well as good."

"PROTECTION FROM DECEPTION"

Navigating Through The Minefield
Of Signs And Wonders

Chapter One of a book by Derek Prince - Nov 1996

Chapter 1
Signs and Wonders
Do Not Determine Truth

There has been in recent years a worldwide explosion of signs and wonders. Some have been biblical and helpful. Others have been bizarre and unbiblical. Signs and wonders are not new. They are recorded in various passages of the Bible and in different periods of church history. However, the current explosion extends more widely than any particular church or denomination and has attracted widespread attention in both the religious and the secular media.

I want to make it plain that I have no personal prejudice or anxiety concerning unusual manifestations. In actual fact, I have in my own lifetime experienced quite a number of them. They do not frighten me. I am not negative about them. As I recorded in my booklet Uproar in the Church, my own personal encounter with Jesus in World War II began in a very unconventional way. In the middle of the night, in a barrack room of the British Army, I spent more than an hour on my back on the floor, with my body first racked by convulsive sobs and then filled with a river of laughter which grew continually louder.

Next morning, I found myself a completely different person, changed not by any act of my will but by yielding to the supernatural power that had flowed through me. I then looked up various passages in the Bible that speak about laughter. To my surprise, I discovered that - for God's people - laughter is not primarily, as we imagine, a reaction to something comical, but rather an expression of triumph over our enemies.

In Psalm 2:4, David actually depicts God Himself as laughing: He who sits in the heavens shall laugh: The Lord shall hold them in derision, Here, God's laughter is not a reaction to some comedy that is being enacted on earth. Rather, it is His response to the ridiculous human midgets who have the effrontery to oppose His purposes. It is His expression of triumph over all the forces of evil.

Sometimes, God fills us with His own laughter that we may share in His triumph over those who are both His enemies and ours.

Later I pastored a fellowship in London that met on the top floor of a five- story building. One evening a lame man was miraculously healed and threw away his crutches. We all burst into spontaneous praise. At that moment the building began to tremble and shake with the power of God. The praise and shaking continued for about thirty minutes.

I realized that something similar was recorded of the early church in Acts 4:31: And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

At that particular time, our fellowship was conducting several evangelistic meetings each week in the streets of London, and we certainly needed more than natural boldness.

But with regard to any kind of manifestation, there are two questions that I always want to ask. Number one: Is it a manifestation of the Holy Spirit of God? Or is it a manifestation from some other source? And number two (and this is related to it): Is the manifestation in question in harmony with Scripture? In 2 Timothy 3:16, Paul says, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God. In other words, the Holy Spirit is the author of all Scripture, and He never says or does anything to contradict Himself. Every genuine manifestation of the Holy Spirit will, in some way. harmonize with Scripture.

Now, I want to begin with some warnings of Jesus, particularly related to the end time period in which I believe we are living. These are warnings against deception. They are found in Matthew chapter 24, verses 4, 5, 11 and 24. In other words, four times in 21 verses, Jesus specifically warns us against deception in this period of the close of the age. The first thing Jesus said about the events leading up to His return, in Matthew 24:4: "Take heed that no one deceives you." Verse 5: "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Messiah (Christ),' and will deceive many." Verse 11: "Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many." And then in verse 24: "For false messiahs (christs) and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect." So, Jesus warns us four times against deception. Anybody who shrugs off that warning or treats it lightly does so at the risk of his own soul. The greatest single danger in this end time is not sickness, nor poverty, nor persecution. It is deception. If anybody says, "It could never happen to me," it has already happened to that person, because that person is saying something could never happen that Jesus said would happen. That is a sufficient indication that such a person is deceived.

Next, I want to say something important about signs and wonders. They do not determine truth. It is very essential to understand that. Signs and wonders do not determine truth! Truth is already determined and established, and it is the Word of God. In John 17:17, Jesus is praying to the Father, and He says, "Your word is truth." And in Psalm 119:89, the psalmist said, Forever, 0 Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Nothing that happens on earth can ever change the smallest little sign or letter of the Word of God. It is forever settled in heaven.

Now, the Bible speaks about signs and wonders. It says some things about them that are good, and some that are very frightening. I want to turn to 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 and read a few verses there, beginning at verse 9. The coming of the lawless one [that is the title of the Antichrist] is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

So, Paul says here there are such things as lying signs and wonders. There are true signs and there are lying signs. True signs attest the truth. Lying signs attest lies. Satan is fully capable of supernatural signs and wonders. Unfortunately, many in the Charismatic movement have the attitude that if something is supernatural, it must be from God. There is no scriptural basis for that assumption. Satan is perfectly capable of producing powerful signs and wonders to attest his lies, and the reason such people are deceived is because they did not receive the love of the truth. On such people God will send strong delusion. That is one of the most frightening statements in the Bible. If God sends you strong delusion, you will be deluded. I think that is one of the most severe judgments of God recorded in Scripture, sending these people strong delusion. They will be condemned, these people, because they did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Therefore, signs and wonders are not a guarantee that something is the truth. There is only one sure way to know the truth. It is in the Word of God. Jesus said in John 8:32, "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." There is no other way to be sure that we can escape deception in these days except that we know and apply the truth of God's Word, the Scripture.

In 1994, for the first time, I was brought into fairly direct contact with one of the groups where those manifestations were occurring. A group of leaders went to some of their meetings and returned all excited, saying they had experienced something wonderful and we all needed to experience it. They said, "Now, you don't test it. You don't try it out. You don't examine it. You just open up to it and receive it." That was the first time that I really began to be suspicious of some of these things, because such a statement is directly contrary to Scripture.

In I Thessalonians 5:21, Paul says to Christians, Test all things: hold fast what is good. So, if we do not test things, we are disobeying Scripture, and anybody who tells us not to test things is, himself, not in harmony with Scripture. Our hearts cannot be relied upon to give us the truth. Proverbs 28:26 says, He who trusts in his own heart is a fool. So do not be a fool. Do not trust your own heart. Do not rely upon what your heart tells you, because it is not reliable. Again, in Jeremiah 17:9 the prophet says, The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

That word deceitful in the Hebrew is a very interesting word. In 1946, I was attending the Hebrew University in Jerusalem as a guest student studying the nature - or the law - of the Hebrew language. I was listening to the head professor in this field at that time talking about this verse: Jeremiah 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things. He gave reasons which I cannot carry over from Hebrew to show that this form of the word deceitful is active, not passive. It does not mean that your heart is deceived. It means that your heart deceives you, so you cannot trust your own heart.

The professor gave a very vivid picture of what it means to find out the truth about your own heart. He said it is like someone peeling an onion. You peel off skin after skin, but you never know when you have reached the last skin - and all the time your eyes are watering. So that has remained with me now for 50 years - such a vivid, scriptural warning against relying on my own heart to tell me the truth. There is only one source of truth, and that is the Scripture.

Mixture Produces Confusion and Division

Now, I would like to give briefly my summation of this whole phenomenon /movement/whatever-you-want-to-call-it, based partly on personal observation and partly on what I believe to be reliable reports. My summation is very simple: it is a mixture of spirits, both the Holy Spirit and unholy spirits. They are mixed together.

In Leviticus 19:19, God warns us against mixture. He is opposed to mixture. God says this, "You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you." So, God warns against three things: breeding mixed livestock, sowing with mixed seed and wearing a mixed garment.

We could say that sowing with mixed seed represents the message that we bring, when it is partly truth and partly error. Wearing a mixed garment would be like a lifestyle that is partly scriptural and partly of this world. And letting livestock breed with livestock of an incompatible kind would be equivalent to a Christian ministry or group aligning itself with a group or ministry that is non-Christian.

It is an interesting thing about such breeding; its product is always sterile. For instance, you can mate a horse with a donkey and the product is a mule. But a mule is always sterile; it cannot reproduce. I think that is one reason why there are so many "sterile" operations in Christendom - they are being bred with the wrong mate.

Now, I have observed this carefully, and I have had grievous experience of this condition of a mixture of spirits. I find that it is something which the Scripture warns us against. For instance, there is a character in the Bible, King Saul, who had a mixture of spirits. At one time, he prophesied in the Holy Spirit; at another time, he prophesied in a demon. His career is really a warning. He was a king who ruled for forty years. He was a successful military commander. He had a lot of successes. But mixture was his undoing, and his life closed with tragedy. On the last night of his life, he went to consult a witch, and the next day he committed suicide on the battlefield. Surely that offers no encouragement to any of us to cultivate any kind of spiritual mixture in our lives.

I have observed that the result of mixture is two things: first of all, confusion; and then division. For instance, we have this mixed message, part of which is true, part of which is false. People can respond in two ways. Some will see the good and focus on it, and therefore accept the bad. Some will focus on the bad, and therefore reject the good. In either case, it does not accomplish God's purposes.

Once upon a time I was a pastor, a long time ago, but I remember that the most difficult kind of people to deal with were people who were a mixture. I will give you a little imaginary example. We have Sister Jones in our congregation. One Sunday she gives a beautiful, prophetic message and everybody is uplifted, excited. But two Sundays later, she stands up and gives a revelation which she had in a dream. The further she goes with this revelation, the more confused and confusing it becomes. Eventually, as pastor, I have to say to her, "Sister Jones, I thank you, but I really don't believe that is from the Lord," and she sits down - but that is not the end. After the meeting, Sister White comes to me and says, "Brother Prince, how could you talk to Sister Jones like that? Don't you remember that beautiful prophecy she gave two Sundays ago?" And when Sister White is gone, Brother Black comes to me, and he says, "If that's the kind of revelation she has, I won't listen to any more of her prophecies!"

So, you see what we have? Confusion, and out of confusion, division. I believe that is exactly what is happening in the church: confusion resulting in division. Certainly there is tremendous division! I believe confusion will always produce division.

The Bible gives us no liberty to tolerate the incursion of evil into the church. We are not to be passive; we are not to be neutral. Proverbs 8:13 says, The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. It is sinful to compromise with evil. It is sinful to be neutral toward evil. In John 10:10 Jesus spoke about the thief, the devil, who comes: to steal, to kill and to destroy. We always need to remember, whether it is in an individual life or in a congregation, the devil only comes with three objectives: to steal, to kill and to destroy. I can remember many times I have been speaking with a person who needed deliverance from an evil spirit, and I have said to that person, "Remember, the devil has three reasons for being in your life: to steal, to kill and to destroy. You need to take a stand against him, not be neutral - you must drive him out." What is true of an individual is true of a congregation. It is true for the body of Christ, worldwide.

Some of these unusual manifestations have been compared with unusual manifestations that accompanied the ministry of John Wesley, George Whitefield, Jonathan Edwards and Charles Finney. Undoubtedly there were unusual manifestations in the ministries of those four men, and I have studied some of them myself, but I think the differences are greater than the similarities with the present situation. Let me point out to you three differences:

First of all, all those men majored on the strong preaching of God's Word. They hardly did anything until they had preached the Word of God, or apart from the preaching of the Word of God. Finney, himself, commented somewhere about his ministry, "I usually spoke an hour or two." I do not know how many contemporary Christians in the West would listen to a two-hour sermon, but Finney gave the Word in its purity and in its power.

Second difference: All those men made a strong call for repentance. That was their primary demand on the people to whom they ministered. Some people call what we are seeing today "a refreshing," but in Acts 3:19 Peter says that refreshing must be preceded by repentance. Any refreshing that bypasses repentance is not scriptural.

The third difference is that in the ministry of those men, there is no record as far as I know that any of them laid hands on people. I am not saying that it is unscriptural to lay hands on people, but there is a difference. There is a situation in which people receive directly for themselves from the preached Word and another situation in which people have hands laid on them by others. If I could take a simple example. It is like rain. If you are out in the open and the rain falls upon you, you have received your rain direct from heaven. But, on the other hand, if rain is caught and stored in some kind of a cistern, then you are not receiving that rain direct from heaven. You have to take into account the cistern and the pipes through which you receive the rain. This is very vivid for me, because my first wife, Lydia, and I lived in Kenya for five years in a house where our water came from rain caught on the roof and channeled into concrete cisterns. Although the water came from heaven, we quickly learned by experience that if it stayed for any length of time in the cistern, worms developed in it and, consequently, we always had to boil our drinking water. There was nothing wrong with the rain as it came down, but something happened in the channel through which the rain came to us, and it was no longer pure. I think this can be true of laying on of hands. It is a channel which is not always pure.

Recently some ministers have moved from actually laying on hands to some other action of the hands - such as waving or pointing. However, this does not change the fact that something is being transmitted through the hands. Otherwise, there is no reason to use the hands at all. The important question still remains: Are those hands pure channels through which only the Holy Spirit can flow?

For instance, Ruth and I were in a meeting fairly recently where ministers deeply involved in the current move were speaking. We were sitting about two rows behind a woman who was having a terrible experience. She was like somebody continually trying to burp or trying to vomit, and she just went on and on and on. Eventually, I said to Ruth, "I think we ought to try to help her." So, although it was not a meeting for which we were responsible, we went over quietly and started to talk to her. We discovered very quickly that she was speaking in a tongue, but for both of us it was evident that it was a false tongue; it was not a Holy Spirit tongue. We challenged her to confess that Jesus is Lord, and she was not willing or able to say that. So I conclude that she had a false spirit.

Later on, the people who were with her came over and talked to us and asked us what they should do about it. I asked them, "How did it happen?" And they said, "Well, she went to a church that's involved in this move and somebody laid hands on her and this is the way she has been since then. But," they said, "she's convinced it's from God. We can't help her." That is just an example of "rain" that came through a "cistern" that was not pure.

Also, in the present move, there is a great deal of emphasis on love. I agree that love is the greatest thing. But the trouble is that people are not always clear about the nature of love as it is described in the New Testament. First of all, love in us is expressed by obedience to the Lord. Any kind of love that does not result in obedience is unscriptural love.

In John 14:15, Jesus said to His disciples, "If you love Me, keep My commandments," or, in a perhaps better text, "You will keep My commandments." In other words, what is the evidence that you love Him? The evidence is keeping His commandments. Then in verse 21a. Jesus says, "He who has My commandments and keeps them. it is he who loves Me." And in 1 John 5:3, it says, For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. Therefore, any kind of love that does not result in obedience to the will of God revealed in His Word is not scriptural love. It is a counterfeit, a substitute for the real thing. Then, we need to consider the way that God expresses His love toward us. True, God is our Father, and He loves us. But as a Father, if necessary, He is prepared to discipline us. In the messages to the seven churches depicted in Revelation, I would say that Laodicea is probably the one that corresponds most closely to the contemporary church in the West. And to that church the Lord said, "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent" (Rev. 3:19).

So, God's love is not sloppy. It is not sentimental. It is right down-to- earth. If we are straying from His ways and if we are disobedient, His love is expressed in rebuking us and chastening us, and He commands us to repent. Once again we have the problem of trying to get what God promises, but bypassing the basic condition of repentance - which is a deception.

I recently read the following comment by a British Bible teacher: Some Christians take the text "God is love" and turn it around to mean "Love is God." In other words, nothing can be wrong if it is rooted in love. However, any love that comes between us and God is an illegitimate love ... Likewise any love that diverts us from obedience to God's Word is illegitimate.

The Identity of the Holy Spirit

In all of this that we are speaking about. this worldwide phenomenon, I believe there is one, central, underlying issue, which is often obscured. In fact, very seldom do we come really to grips with this issue. This issue is the identity of the Holy Spirit. How do we recognize the Holy Spirit? How do we know what the Holy Spirit is like? And how do we distinguish the Holy Spirit from other spirits? I read a statement recently by some New-Ager in which she said about the "New Age," "When the holy spirit comes, then the New Age will be here." Of course I am sure most of you would understand that when she talks about the holy spirit, she is not talking about the same Holy Spirit that the Bible speaks about. This is one of various indications that there is a counterfeit holy spirit. It is nothing new for Satan to produce a religious counterfeit. Since the time of Jesus, history records a whole series of counterfeit messiahs who have risen among the Jewish people. All of them had a following. Some like Sabbetai Zvi, had a widespread and enduring influence. The latest of them died in 1994.

Another religious counterfiet is the being titled the "blessed virgin Mary." With all the claims that have been made for her and all the titles that have been ascribed to her, she bears no resemblance to the humble Jewish maiden who became the mother of Jesus, and later of His brothers and sisters. Yet over the centuries this counterfeit has claimed the devotion of millions of sincere Christians. We need to be on our guard, therefore, that we do not entertain a counterfeit "holy spirit." I want to suggest to you three ways to identify the Holy Spirit, to recognize who the Holy Spirit is.

The first way I refer to in my little booklet Uproar in the Church, which I wrote about two years ago. I will just quote a few paragraphs: Another danger that threatens those who minister in the supernatural realm is the temptation to use spiritual gifts to manipulate or exploit or dominate people. At one period in my ministry I found myself casting spirits of witchcraft out of church-going people. Eventually, I asked the Lord to show me the true nature of witchcraft. I believe the Lord gave me the following definition: Witchcraft is the attempt to control people and get them to do what you want by the use of any spirit that is not the Holy Spirit. After I had digested this, the Lord added: And if anyone has a spirit that he can use, it is not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God, and no one uses God. That is very important. The Holy Spirit is God, and no one uses God. Then I went on to say, Today I tremble inwardly when I see or hear of a person who claims that he has spiritual gifts which he is free to use just as he pleases. It is surely no accident that some of those who have made such claims have ended in serious doctrinal error.

It is important to see that there is a difference between the Holy Spirit Himself, as a Person, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In Romans 11:29, Paul tells us that the gifts ... of God are irrevocable. In other words, once God has given us a gift, He never takes it back. We are free to use it, not to use it, or to misuse it. But even if we misuse it, God does not take it back. Otherwise it would not be a genuine gift, it would only be a conditional loan.

It is a fact that people do misuse gifts of the Holy Spirit. Paul provides a clear example in I Corinthians 13:1: Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become as sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. Obviously the Holy Spirit Himself does not become a clanging cymbal. But the gift of speaking in tongues - when misused - can become an empty, discordant noise. Unfortunately this often happens in Pentecostal and Charismatic circles.

I believe it is possible to misuse other spiritual gifts - such as a word of knowledge or a gift of healing. This can happen when a person uses a spiritual gift to achieve a result or promote a movement which is not in harmony with the will of God. One obvious misuse would be for personal gain. In such a situation, our safeguard is to be able to recognize the Holy Spirit as a Person and to distinguish between Him and His gifts. This, then, is the first and most important fact about the Holy Spirit: HE IS GOD. And we need to relate to Him and treat Him always as God.

The second fact about the Holy Spirit is that He is the servant of God the Father and God the Son. This is an exciting revelation because it gives such a high value to servant hood. Many people today despise the idea of being a servant. They feel it is demeaning and undignified to be a servant. But I think it is wonderful that servant hood did not begin on earth. It began in eternity and it began in God. God the Holy Spirit is the Servant of the Father and the Son. This does not demean Him or make Him less than God. But it is a fact that we have to recognize about Him, which directs His activities and the things He does. In John 16:13-14 Jesus gives us a glimpse of the Holy Spirit's ministry and activity: "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak on His own authority [literally: from Himself] but whatever He hears He will speak: and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you." So we see: the Holy Spirit does not speak from Himself; He has no message of His own. Isn't that remarkable? He only reports to us what He is hearing from the Father and the Son. Secondly, His aim is not to glorify Himself, nor to attract attention to Himself, but always He glorifies and focuses attention on Jesus. That is the second important way to identify the Holy Spirit.

Now, I want you to listen to this carefully, because it is revolutionary. Any spirit that focuses on the Holy Spirit and glorifies the Holy Spirit is not the Holy Spirit. It is contrary to His whole nature and purpose. Once you have grasped that, it will open your eyes to many things which are going on in the church that are otherwise difficult to understand. For example, we have a very beautiful chorus that we sing about the Father, the Son and the Spirit. The first verse says to the Father, "Glorify Thy name in all the earth." The second verse says to Jesus the Son, "Glorify Thy name in all the earth." The third verse says to the Spirit, "Glorify Thy name in all the earth." I love to sing the first two verses, but I decline to sing the third verse, because I do not believe it is scriptural. The Holy Spirit never does glorify His own name. His purpose is to glorify the One who sent Him.

Let me make another statement which may surprise you. I have not found in the Scripture anywhere an example of a prayer addressed to the Holy Spirit. So far as I can understand, no one in the Scripture ever prayed to the Holy Spirit. You probably would do well to check that for yourself, but I have looked carefully and have not found one example. You might ask, "Why so?" And I would give you this answer: It is a question of heavenly "protocol." There is so little respect nowadays for protocol on earth that we sometimes do not realize that there is protocol in heaven. It is protocol relating to a master-servant relationship. In such a relationship, when you are dealing with a servant, you do not speak to the servant, but to the master. You ask the master to tell his servant what to do. It is wrong to directly address a servant when his master is available for you to speak to. I believe that is heaven's protocol. When you recognize the relationship of the Holy Spirit to God the Father and God the Son, you understand that we never give orders to the Holy Spirit. When we want the Holy Spirit to do something, we address our request to the Father or to the Son.

When I was looking through this, I found a passage in Ezekiel chapter 37 which I thought, at first, was an exception. It is part of Ezekiel's well-known vision of the valley full of dry bones with no life in them. First of all, he prophesied and the bones came together, but they were still lifeless corpses. Then, in verses 9 and 10: Also He said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Come from the four winds, 0 breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live."'" So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.

So, I thought that the "breath" is really a picture of the wind - or the Holy Spirit - and so Ezekiel was praying to the wind. But he was not praying. He was prophesying. And it did not come from himself. He merely passed on to the wind a command that he had received from God Himself. Therefore, as far as I have been able to discover, there is not a single example anywhere in the Scripture of praying to the Holy Spirit. Now, I am not seeking to make a big issue out of that. On the other hand, I think it is very important as we try to discern the nature and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. You would say to me, "Well, doesn't God hear our prayer when we pray to the Holy Spirit?" I think He does. But we are not praying in full accord with heaven's protocol. If we really want to please the Lord and show respect for Him, we will show respect for His protocol.

The third important fact about the Holy Spirit is what is indicated in His name: He is Holy. This is His primary title: the Holy Spirit. In Hebrew it is the Spirit of Holiness. He has many other titles: for instance, the Spirit of Grace, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Power, and so on, But they are all subsidiary. His name and His primary title is the Holy Spirit. Anything that is unholy does not proceed from the Holy Spirit.

The Scripture also speaks of the beauty of holiness. There is a beauty in holiness when it proceeds from the Holy Spirit. It is not necessarily external. It may be internal beauty. For instance, in I Peter 3:4, Peter speaks about the hidden person of the heart, and he speaks about the adornment of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price. This is not external beauty. It is internal beauty, which comes from the Holy Spirit. I want to say, however, with the utmost emphasis: Anything unholy or ugly does not proceed from the Holy Spirit.

I will give you a list of 12 adjectives, all of which I believe cannot be applied to the Holy Spirit or to anything that is the product of the Holy Spirit. As I go through the list, I suggest you check mentally and see if you agree with me. Here, then, are words that would never apply to the Holy Spirit:

  • self-exalting

  • self-assertive

  • degrading

  • flippant

  • rude

  • sham

  • vulgar

  • indecent

  • insensitive

  • stupid

  • silly

  • degraded

I have in my heart, if God wills and I live, to write a book at some time of which I have already chosen the title. The title is this: Holiness Is Not Optional. Only God knows whether I will ever succeed in writing the book, but I want to say, in any case, that the title states the exact truth. In the Christian life, holiness is not optional. Many Christians seem to think about holiness as if it is like something added to a car, such as fancy leather upholstery instead of the normal kind of plastic. But that is not true. Holiness is an essential part of salvation. In Hebrews 12:14 the writer says, Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no man will see the Lord. What salvation do we have that does not bring us to see the Lord? But without holiness, no one will see the Lord.

We have in our contemporary Western Christianity a very incomplete picture of salvation. "If I get saved and born again, and then I want to go on and be holy. I can do it - but it is an option." I want to tell you that your salvation depends on your being holy. And holiness comes only from the Holy Spirit.

There are many features of purported moves of the Holy Spirit that I could pick out and hold up as examples of things that are not holy. But I will only deal with one, and that is: animal behaviour in human beings attributed to the Holy Spirit. There are many such examples, some I have witnessed and some have been reported.

First of all, there is no passage in Scripture that I know of where the Holy Spirit causes any human being to behave like an animal. There is the example of Balaam, but that is a strong contrast. God caused Balaam's donkey to speak like a man - but He never caused Balaam to bray like a donkey!

There was one man whom God caused to behave like an animal: Nebuchadnezzar. He was driven from men and ate grass like oxen; his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles' feathers and his nails like birds' claws. (Daniel 4:33) But that was God's judgment, not His blessing! Revelation 4:6-8 depicts four living creatures that surround the throne of God. Three are there as representatives of the "animal" kingdom: a lion, a calf and an eagle. But none of them make noises that express their "animal" nature. All of them alike proclaim the holiness of God in pure and beautiful speech. It is important to understand that there is an order in God's creation.

Man was created in the image and likeness of God to exercise authority over the animal kingdom (see Genesis 1:26). Man is, in fact, the highest order of the creation described in the opening chapters of Genesis. This has a bearing on the way the Holy Spirit blesses us. He uplifts those whom He blesses. He will at times cause an animal to act in some ways like a human being. But He will never degrade a human being by causing him to act like an animal.

I have a certain amount of experience in this area because I have encountered animal spirits many times in Africa. I recall one particular deliverance service that I held in Zambia with about 7,000 Africans present. When I had finished the teaching and began to command the evil spirits to manifest themselves and come out of the people, there were all sorts of animal spirits that were let loose. By "animal spirits" I mean evil, demonic spirits that enter human beings and cause them to behave like animals. The first thing that happened was that a man with a "lion spirit" tried to charge me. But someone tripped him up and he did not reach me. You need to know that the reason these Africans in this part of Africa have so many animal spirits is because many of them are hunters of animals. They have this superstition that in order to hunt an animal successfully, you have to get the spirit of the animal in you. So a man tends to have the spirit of the animal which he seeks to hunt. For instance, the man who is hunting a lion, will get a lion spirit.

There are many others. We dealt with spirits of wild boars that caused people to burrow in the earth with their noses like a wild boar rooting for something. Then there were many snake spirits. These were mainly in women, and when they were manifested, the women were flat on their bellies slithering around like snakes. All these I actually witnessed myself.

There was one other spirit that I did not witness, but heard about from the missionary couple who organized the meeting. Later I met the lady concerned. She was a very sweet Christian lady - a school teacher - but her husband was an elephant hunter. When she came to the missionary couple for deliverance, they commanded the elephant spirit to come out. Immediately she dropped on her hands and knees, crawled out through an open door, put her forehead up against a small tree, and began to try to push it down. Wasn't that remarkable? Perhaps some well-meaning Western Christian might have said, "Our sister is pushing a tree down for Jesus," but that was not the explanation. The elephant spirit in her was causing her to do what elephants regularly do, which is push down trees with their foreheads. As soon as she was delivered from that spirit, she no longer had any urge to push trees down with her forehead. In the West, we sometimes tend to speak about the people in Africa as unsophisticated and to consider ourselves more sophisticated. However, I think in this realm of animal spirits it is we, in the West, who are unsophisticated and the Africans who are sophisticated. They have lived for generations with such spirits, but until the gospel came, with the power of the name of Jesus and the Word of God, they had no way to deal with them. Thank God that many of them now know how to deal with them!

Another example of which various reports have been given is people behaving like dogs. I am a dog lover, but I think dogs should be kept in their rightful place. I do not believe that the Holy Spirit ever causes anybody to bark or to run around like a dog.

Where such manifestations of animal spirits have occurred, there are certain steps that we need to take. We cannot tolerate or encourage such manifestations. Nor can we merely sweep all this under the carpet and go on as if nothing had happened.

In Matthew 12:33, Jesus instructs us: "Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit." Wherever there is bad fruit, it comes from a bad tree. It is not enough to get rid of the bad fruit. We must also cut down the bad tree that produced it. If we fail to do this, the bad tree will go on producing more bad fruit. Undoubtedly the tree that produces animal behaviour of this kind is some form of occult or pagan practice. For instance, there are frequent manifestations of animal behaviour in some parts of Africa and India.

To cut down the tree requires that the leaders responsible identify the problem, confess it as sin and repent of it. Nowhere in the Bible is there any ground to suppose that God will forgive sins that we are not willing to confess. Somebody has said, "The confession must be as wide as the transgression." If leaders have tolerated these things in the presence of their people, then in the presence of their people they need to confess it as a sin and cancel it. Otherwise, if the bad tree is not cut down, it will go on producing bad fruit.

In closing, I want to give a little "parable" of my own construction, which is about my relationship with my wife. In this parable my wife represents the Holy Spirit and I represent God. Now please understand, this is a very simple little parable and I am fully aware that the Holy Spirit is not the wife of God. But with those cautions, let me relate the parable.

A friend comes to me and says, "I saw you and your wife together on the platform the other evening and she looked so beautiful, so fresh, so full of the Holy Spirit." So I say, "Thank you. That's really how she is." Then, a little later, the same man comes to me and says, "You know, yesterday I saw your wife in a bar with a man drinking." And I say, "That was not my wife! My wife is a pure and godly woman. She does not go to bars and she does not drink with strangers. My wife was right here with me all day yesterday. Don't speak that way about my wife!"

But a little later, he comes to me and says, "You know, I saw your wife yesterday sunbathing topless on the beach." Then I get really angry. I say to him, "My wife was nowhere near the beach yesterday, and she would never expose herself like that! If you want to remain my friend, you've got to come to the place where you don't identify that loose, immoral woman as my wife, because that's an insult to her and to me, If you want to remain my friend, you've got to change the way you speak about my wife."

The application, of course, is this: if you want to remain a friend of God, you cannot afford to identify His Holy Spirit as something that is loose or immoral or ugly or unholy, because that angers God intensely.

Now we come to one final Scripture, which is in Matthew 12:31-32. Jesus says, "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come."

That is a very solemn and frightening warning. We are warned by Jesus Himself to be very, very careful how we speak about the Holy Spirit, how we represent the Holy Spirit.

Jesus uses the word blasphemy, and I decided to look it up in my big Greek lexicon. The primary meaning of to blaspheme is given in the lexicon as this: to speak lightly or amiss of sacred things. So when you speak lightly or amiss concerning the Holy Spirit, or misrepresent the character of the Holy Spirit, by definition you are close to blaspheming.

If you have ever done that, or been prone to do it, or been associated with those who do it, I want to offer you some sincere advice: You need to repent. You need to settle that matter once and for all with God and never again be guilty of misrepresenting God's Holy Spirit. For the Holy Spirit is holy and He is God.

The Multitude of Prophecies

The Multitude of Prophecies

AMOS 3:7

For the Lord will do nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.

For many years, from all over the world, the prophetic word has sounded. This word has come from many proven men and women of God. Their message that has consistently come forth is one of the coming revival.

Has there ever been a time when we have heard so many prophecies concerning the coming revival?

Benny Hinn and Kim Clement - VERY VERY SIGNIFICANT - they discuss the Coming move of God.

The tidal wave will begin when two well-known spiritual leaders die, one being Oral Roberts. This was revealed to Benny Hinn in the 1990's and Kim Clement has confirmed this.

In spring 2006, the prophet Kim Clement gave a message from God saying that Billy Graham and Oral Roberts were going to die soon ...

Billy
Graham:
The Spirit of God says, “Even as Billy Graham dies, I will raise up two of him. I will raise up two of ‘Billy Graham’.” God says, “Your soil surrendered him to Me, and so shall your soil receive him. I will raise up two: one man and one woman, again from this soil. Evangelism shall take place through the news media, the arts and in the business arena, for I will cause my servant Billy Graham to come into the place that he has spoken of all of his life.  I will receive My servant, Graham. There will be a graduation, everything he spoke about, he shall experience. Do not be sad people, for in the day that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord high and lifted up. In the day that this King dies, yes he is a King,  Billy Graham. In the day that he dies, the eyes of the prophets shall see the Lord high and lifted up. The prophetic shall gain a new dimension of sight. Please do not be sad people. When King Billy Graham dies,  there shall be a new level of sight, a dimension of sight that the Body of Christ has never seen. Do not say, ‘but is he this denomination and that?’ Two shall be raised up who shall become two nations and forces, and those that shall come from the world shall thank you.  They shall say, ‘thank you’”…  But God said, “Please listen, in the day that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord. In the day that King Billy Graham dies, the eyes of many shall be opened to who the True King is. The King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Prince of Peace, the Rose of Sharon, Lily of the Valley, Wonderful Counselor. They shall see The King. My servant Billy Graham as he is received, as my servant Oral Roberts is received - in the death of those,  a new sight for the King of Kings shall be sent to the earth. They shall see the Lord Jesus high and lifted up,  and His train filled the Temple, and the cherubim and the seraphim and the angels crying ‘holy, holy, holy.’  A new level of evangelism shall take place in America and throughout the earth,” says the Lord of Hosts.  Isaiah 6:1 1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up and his train filled the temple.  God spoke to me and said that when a great General is subtracted from the earth, a greater portion of his anointing is released throughout the earth.  Specifically upon the departure of Rev. Billy Graham,  the people will ‘SEE” the Lord or Lords, high and lifted up….” This means that the world will have a greater insight about Jesus and a great harvest will be the result.

Oral Roberts:
Upon his departure, a realm of prosperity will be released upon the body of Christ resulting in non profit organizations becoming a blessing to the community (financially) and instead of constantly taking from the Government, the church will be a financial benefit as well during crises like hurricanes,  and other disasters.

Kathryn Kuhlman prophesied that there is coming a day when everyone will be healed...

We are on the eve of the greatest and final outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the history of the church.

NOTE: the same truth (Moses and the Promised Land) in seed was revealed to Pastor Ed Roebert at Hatfield in Pretoria, South Africa many years ago. However, the time was not right... [many leaders such as Derek Prince, Kenneth Hagin, John Wimber have died in the past decade]

Watch Benny Hinn closely! He is in step with Jesus Christ and God's end-time plans concerning the coming tsunami of God. These comments of his are also significant:

"The sad and growing reality is that the Gospel of the cross and Christ crucified is not preached in many of our nation’s churches. The message many are preaching has nothing to do with Jesus Christ or the blood He shed on the cross or repentance for sin or the fear of Almighty God.

Many preach a gospel that speaks of self-reliance: how to beautify self, how to build self, how to enrich self and succeed in business."

James W. Goll, founder of Encounters Network, draws a parallel between the historic changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and the coming shift in leadership in both the religious and political arenas during 2008. He says this year is a critical year for the body of Christ as some leaders will go on to heaven, others will fall from prominence and new ones will emerge to lead.

Riding the Third Wave

In the closing years of the twentieth century a new movement has been sweeping across Christianity known as the "Third Wave", "Third Wave of the Holy Spirit" or the "Signs and Wonders" movement.

The Third Wave is the third major move of the Holy Spirit; with the Pentecostal movement in the early twentieth century being the "first wave"; and the Charismatic movement of the mid-twentieth century being the "second wave."

The sheer size of the Third Wave is impressive. The movement "comprises 18,810 independent, indigenous, post denominational denominations and groups." The Third Wave eclipses numerically all Pentecostals and Charismatics combined, with 295,405,240 adherents worldwide, while Pentecostals and Charismatics number 65,832,970 and 175,856,690 respectively. The Third Wave's greatest success is in the prophetic African independent churches; in Asia, especially amongst the House Church movement in China; and in Latin American countries, especially Brazil. It is estimated that by the year 2025 that the Third Wave will be able to claim nearly a half-billion members.

Those who are in the Third Wave do not regard themselves either as either Pentecostals or Charismatics.

The main figure in what is known as the "Third Wave" is a man by the name of John Wimber ...

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Signs and Wonders was a phrase used often by Charismatic leaders in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It is closely associated with the ministry of John Wimber and the Vineyard Movement. One of the major emphases of the belief is that the Gospel cannot be effectively communicated to unbelievers without supernatural manifestations brought on by the Holy Spirit (such as prophecy and healing).

The term "third wave" was first coined by C. Peter Wagner in 1983:

"I see historically that we're now in the third wave. The first wave of the moving of the Holy Spirit began at the beginning of the century with the Pentecostal movement. The second wave was the charismatic movement which began in the fifties in the major denominations. Both of those waves continue today.

"I see the third wave of the eighties as an opening of the straight-line evangelicals and other Christians to the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit that the Pentecostals and charismatics have experienced, but without becoming either charismatic or Pentecostal. I think we are in a new wave of something that now has lasted almost through our whole century" (Peter Wagner, "The Third Wave?" Pastoral Renewal, July-August 1983, pp. 1-5).

Dr. Howard-Browne ...

The Last Revival Has Begun!

I believe we slipped over the edge into this great outpouring in 1990. As the prophets of old and new have said, we're on the edge, the brink, of the coming revival. I can see the dark clouds on the horizon. I can hear the distant thunder. I can see the flashes of lightning. The first drops of rain are beginning to fall from the final wave of God's glory!

Rick Joyner ...

The September 1993 1st edition of "The Morning Star", (Rick Joyner's newsletter) was headlined "The Post-Charismatic Era". There, Paul Cain, the well-known Vineyard "prophet" informed us that "the charismatic renewal is now over but God is going to move again and speak again, even to the very ones who rejected Him in the last movement."

Bill Bright ...

The Coming Revival will help equip our churches, our nation, and us for the greatest spiritual awakening since the first century!

This book is a clarion call to repentance and prayer needed to bring revival." - Pat Robertson

Paul Cain ...

... Cain stepped down from doing ministry for 25 years.

However the Lord promised Cain that he would stand before a new breed of men. Wimber stated “Paul was given a mission, the mission as he states it is to initiate the end time ministry.” When Cain  he stepped back into ministry was in search for the new breed of men. Another prophet Mike Bickle described this as “a Samuel looking for a David.”

Cain began his search by traveling to other nations, to Seoul Korea and met with Paul yonggi Cho but he was not the one. Then Jimmy Swaggart, and several other leaders in America, James Robison, Pat Robertson. He was discouraged wondering where this will come from until he met Wimber.

It was Feb. 12 1989 at Wimber's pulpit he proclaimed “That I have found that leader that’s going, before he dies to usher in a new move of God, a new wave. And not just a little gathering here and not a few vines out there but its going to be more than a cluster, listen to me  buster-  I mean its going to be more than a cluster. I mean in spite of all your blunders God’s gonna still give you signs and wonders.” This is where they got off track to pursue the new wave.   God says signs will follow the true preaching and exposition of his word. The vineyard and through Cain and others the signs became a means to end in themselves.

Wimber considered Paul Cain a prophet like the apostle Paul, one who came “with signs and wonders.”

In 1989 The Kansas City Prophets was incorporated into the Vineyard. Wimber had only respect for Cain said “he's interacting in two dimensions continually. He's not only seeing you and talking to you, but he's hearing from God constantly. There's continual flow. I think it's interrupted periodically, but a continual flow of information is coming to him about things.” ... “be in one room and be listening to the conversation of people in another place at the same time.” (John Wimber, “Speaking on Paul Cain and the Office of the Prophet,” Vineyard Christian Fellowship, Anaheim, CA 2/19/89) Is this a spiritual gift? Did God send any prophet information on people and situations all the time and he needed to tune in.

Today they are no longer in the Vineyard they are currently known as the Metro Christian Fellowship. Once under Mike Bickle, he is now an apostle on the road and it is now headed by former Ywamer Floyd McClung.
