STILL WATERS

Psalm 23: 1-3

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green
pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of
righteousness
For His name's sake.

Sheep are afraid of drinking water that moves quickly or that is agitated. Therefore the shepherd looks for pools of water or some quiet place where they may quench their thirst.

This has been the road that has been built in the wilderness. It is the place of His Presence and the glory of God. It is the place of death. Death to self. Death to the flesh. Death to religion. Resurrection life springs forth from those who have died.

HEALING THE WATERS : THE BEGINNING OF SIGNS AND WONDERS

2 Kings 2: 19-21

Then the men of the city said to Elisha,
"Please notice, the situation of this city is
pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is
bad, and the ground barren."
And he said, "Bring me a new bowl, and
put salt in it." So they brought it to him.
Then he went out to the source of the
water, and cast in the salt there, and said,
"Thus says the Lord:'I have healed this
water; from it there shall be no more death or
barrenness."

As the Elijah's emerge from the wilderness and become Elisha's moving in signs and wonders, the first and most important sign and wonder is the healing of the waters. Strange, stirred-up waters need to become still waters. Much noise and activity is replaced by stillness and power.

There is barrenness in the church today. We are truly living in the days of Laodicea.
Many of the old saints are dying: Kenneth Hagin, Derek Prince, John Wimber, Ed Roebert and others. Consider the word that the Lord spoke to Benny Hinn in the 1990's concerning the last move of God. Others have fallen into sin. Barrenness and death are present.

However, there is a remnant coming from the desert which has blossomed like a rose. They are completely different from the Laodicean state of the universal church. There is no barrenness in the wilderness. There is no death in the wilderness. Fruitfulness abounds. Saltiness. The glory of God has found a place to rest.

Those who have been faithful - died to self and the flesh - will have multiplication and an increased anointing or mantle in the coming tidal wave. Signs and wonders will follow.

The healing of the waters is necessary for the revival, which began in the wilderness decades ago, to enter the body of Christ as a whole. To the measure that Laodicea responds and repents, revival will break out. America and Europe are central. Many third-world nations are experiencing the end-time harvest to some extent for some years now. However, the last outpouring of the Holy Spirit is much greater than what is being experienced at present.

The waters need to be healed. The source or foundation needs to be uprooted. Religion needs to go. The flesh needs to go. Repentance and reform are needed in Laodicea.

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

 

Isaiah's Prophetic Picture

Isaiah 59:19 - 60:5

So shall they fear
The name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the
sun;
[worldwide demonstration of the God's glory
- causing awe and wonder among the nations]

When the enemy comes in like a FLOOD,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a
STANDARD against him.

Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the Lord is risen
upon you.
For behold, the darkness shall cover the
earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the Lord will rise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your
rising.

Lift up your eyes all around, and see:
They all gather together, they came to
you;
Your sons shall come from afar,
And your daughters shall be nursed at
your side.
Then you shall see and become radiant,
And your heart shall swell with joy;
Because the abundance of the sea shall
be turned to you,
The wealth of the Gentiles shall come
to you.

Further in the chapter:

The glory of Lebanon shall come to
you...

And the sons of those who afflicted you
Shall come bowing to you,
And all those who despised you shall
fall prostate at the soles of your
feet...

The sun shall no longer be your light
by day,
Nor for brightness shall the moon give
light to you;
But the Lord will be to you an
everlasting light,
And your God your glory...

A little one shall become a thousand,
And a small one a strong nation.
I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.

THE BRIDE COMING FORTH OUT OF THE WILDERNESS

Song of Solomon 3: 6-11

Who is this coming out of the wilderness
Like pillars of smoke,
Perfumed with myrrh and frankincense,
With all the merchant's fragrant powders?(v6)

The wedding procession comes forth from the wilderness - a glorious Bride with her Beloved. This is the mystery of the end-time church and of the restoration of the true apostolic movement that He has raised up for the final hour.

Those coming out of the wilderness are not to arise in their own time. They are to come out with the Bridegroom in His time (V22: I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time). When they do so in His time, the glory of God will rest and remain on them rather than lift from them.

There is another flood coming. Tribulation. The antichrist. These events occur after the Lord Jesus comes for His own.

Luke 17: 26,27,30

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it
will be also in the days of the Son of Man:
They ate, they drank, they married
wives, they were given in marriage, until the
day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood
came and destroyed them all.
Even so will it be int he day when the
Son of Man is revealed.

Just as it was in Noah's day, so shall it be before the Lord comes. As the darkness deepens like birth pangs at the end of the age, so too will the Spirit of God raise a standard - Jesus Christ - and manifest His glory. This is not simply the proclaiming of Jesus Christ but the restoration of the deeper inner relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ resulting in a deep anointing of the Holy Spirit and the manifestation of power of God demonstrated by signs and wonders.

It seems that this manifestation of His glory will parallel the deepening of the darkness. As it becomes darker, His glory will be manifested more. This confirms what we know. The greatest manifestation of His glory is still to come. His glory is manifested more in regions and countries in which deep darkness exists.

What is the STANDARD which the Holy Spirit uplifts? (JOHN 16: 13-14) It is not an institution, not a denomination, nor a doctrine. It is a Person - Jesus Christ (Hebrews 13:8) For every true believer, loyalty to this standard - Jesus Christ - is primary. Every other commitment - to institution, denomination, or doctrine is secondary.

The Holy Spirit is the STANDARD BEARER of God's army. Just at the moment when God's people are in danger of being totally scattered and defeated, the Holy Spirit uplifts the divine standard. Encouraged by this evidence that God is coming to their help, the people of God from every direction gather around the uplifted standard and regroup for a fresh offensive.

Wherever such believers see Christ truly uplifted by the Holy Spirit, they will gather.

Satan will attempt to oppose God's purposes, but his opposition will be overcome by the Holy Spirit. (ROMANS 5:20)

2 Thessalonians 3: 6-8a Authorized KJV

Do you not remember that when I was
still with you I told you these things?
And now you know what is restraining,
that He may be revealed in his own time.
For the mystery of lawlessness is already
at work; only He who now restrains will
do so until He is taken out of the way.
And then the lawless one will be revealed.

Consider the way in which the Restrainer - the Holy Spirit - works in this last hour. The deepening of the glory of God in this hour restrains Satan in his onslaught of deep darkness. When Jesus comes and takes us home, the Restrainer will leave and the earth will be covered in deep darkness - the Tribulation period. Woe to those who are left on the earth in those days!

7 CHARACTERISTICS OF THE END-TIME REVIVAL:

1. It is worldwide in extent

Isaiah 59: 19a

So shall they fear
The name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the
sun;...

The end-time outpouring of the Holy Spirit is global - from the west to the east. It's purpose is to complete the last great task - the final worldwide harvest.

Matthew 24:14

And this gospel of the kingdom will be
preached in all the world as a witness to all
the nations, and then the end will come.

2. So shall they fear

It is significant that fear is mentioned "So they shall fear"(19a). Holy awe will come over God's people at the revelation of His power and glory. The glory of God will cause awe and wonder among the nations. Signs and wonders will increase in the days ahead.

Also many shall live in perpetual fear because of the deep darkness which deepens daily. News of nuclear conflict, developments in the Middle East and North Korea, modern terrorism, radical Islam has brought fear into the hearts of many. The Ezekiel 38-39 war is quickly coming together. The war is climaxed by the dramatic deliverance of Israel by God resulting in Israel turning to God and experiencing revival. The end-time revival in the church precedes the coming outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Israel.The times of the Gentiles have almost come to an end. Israel will once again be central in the dealings of God. Watch Israel, Iran and Russia!

3. This is NOT a brief, temporary visitation

Isaiah 59:21

"As for Me," says the Lord, "this is my
covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon
you, and My words which I have put in your
mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, not
from your mouth of your descendents, nor
from the mouth of your descendents'
descendants," says the Lord, "from this time
and forevermore."

This beginnings of this end-time move of God began decades ago when many where called into the wilderness of God. Many believe that it began after World War 2 when Israel formed as a nation in 1948.

4. All age groups - with a special emphasis on young people

Isaiah 59:21

"As for Me," says the Lord, "this is my
covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon
you, and My words which I have put in your
mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, not
from your mouth of your descendents, nor
from the mouth of your descendents'
descendants," says the Lord, "from this time
and forevermore."

Young people, take heed. Don't bring the world or the spirit of the world into the church! Much of the contemporary praise and worship is worldly music dressed in Christian garments. Let our message and life be one of walking with Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The charismatic way is not the way of Jesus Christ. The end-move is different. Beware, don't find yourself camping in Laodicea!

5. Unity

Isaiah 60: 5a (Authorized King James)

Then you shall thou shalt see, and become radiant,
And your flow together, and thine heart shall
swell with joy; Because fear, and be enlarged;

The vision of what God is doing will bring His people together. From every historical background and from every section of Christendom, the streams of revival will flow finally uniting themselves into a single irresistible river.

Holy awe will come over God's people at the revelation of His power and glory. Yet there will be also an enlargement of heart - an enlarged capacity to comprehend and to fulfil the purposes of God.

6. Vast Financial and Material Resources

Isaiah 60: 5b

Because the abundance of the sea shall
be turned to you,
The wealth of the Gentiles shall come
to you.

To God's people thus regathered, united, and empowered, there will be made available vast financial and material resources. God has these resources reserved and set aside for the final task which the church has to fulfil.

7. The glory of Lebanon

Isaiah 60: 13

Because the glory of Lebanon shall come to
you,
The cypress, the pine, and the box tree
together,
To beautify the place of My sanctuary;
And I will make the place of My feet
glorious.

Haggai 1:8

"Go up into the mountains and bring wood
and build the temple, that I may take
pleasure in it and be glorified," says the Lord.

The glory of Lebanon. It is solid wood. Is is the best of solid wood. Lebanon was renowned for its wood. It is not melamine which looks good on the surface but has no substance. It is pure gold. Not brass.

'I desire gold - PURE GOLD - to fill My temple,' says the Lord  

The work of God in the wilderness brings His light in fullness. In His light, brass is clearly seen as brass and pure gold as pure gold. Brass and gold look similar in poor light and can easily be mistaken as being the same.   

So the work of God in the wilderness is foundational to thoroughly discern what is to remain and what is to be shaken and realigned.   

Solomon's Temple was constructed from PURE gold. In these last days, He says, 'I desire gold - PURE GOLD - to fill My temple.'  

What happens is the molten metal - both of gold and brass and impurities - is heated up by fire. As the fire comes, the temperature rises and the brass and impurities rise to the surface. So we see the separation of the brass and the gold. As the brass and impurities are removed the gold becomes pure. And eventually, the Refiner can look down from heaven and see His face reflected in the gold and know that it is PURE gold. 

KENNETH HAGIN:

"In the Charismatic move, Christians have brought the brass of the world into the temple of the Lord as a substitute for pure gold. What they have is a mixture; it is not pure. Therefore, I can only bless My people so far, because they have substituted brass for gold. They’ve brought the clapping and dancing of the world into the temple."

The Reformation/Revival & Harvest

Is there coming a world-wide reformation/revival? Yes. It had its beginnings in the wilderness of God decades ago. Some feel that that it started to surface a decade ago - from 1993/1994. However, the main thrust of the revival and the fruit of it - the end-time harvest is largely future. It is the fulfillment of REVELATION 3:20 in the context of Laodicea.

 

The Holy Spirit has been dealing with Christian leaders and those who are sensitive to the things of God for the past 20 - 30 years. A more complete and detailed account of what has been happening during the past decade throughout the body of Christ can be found below under 'The Last Decade'.

 

Two earlier examples of the true inward change and outward fruit, which I observed, are given below:

 

Pastor Ed Roebert's (Hatfield Church, Pretoria - South Africa) last few years of ministry were different. He was following the Charismatic move and then the change came. The praise and worship changed. Hatfield went into a time of revival. This was due to the work of the Spirit in his life. He even spoke of Jeanne Guyon and what was being revealed to him at the time. He said a few years before he went to be with the Lord that he was like Moses looking over the promised land from the mountain. He saw the promised land. And like Moses, he died. Others will lead in the coming move of God.

 

Similarly, Benny Hinn was in trouble. He was publicly chastised by leaders for unbalanced doctrine. This was the Word-faith teachings which are accepted in Charismatic circles. Then the change came. He changed. His ministry became gentler. He, too, spoke of Jeanne Guyon and her influence. His ministry changed from that time. I was very interested in this as exactly the same change took place in my life.

 

Sometimes, those who have experienced such a change, return to their former ways if a deep work has not been done in the wilderness - hence the importance of the wilderness in this end-time preparation.

Some light emerged from time to time in the past Charismatic move. Derek Prince, Kenneth Hagin and others confirmed the shortcomings of the Charismatic movement.

 

This reformation and post-charismatic move began to surface in 1993-1994. However, there has been a mixture so far and the main thrust of the reformation and harvest is still to come. The main move is still to come. The beginnings has been a mixture. Most of those called have kept their distance from the beginnings and are waiting for the Lord's time to emerge from the wilderness. Holiness will come forth from the wilderness in the coming move. However, Satan will also continue to counterfeit and seek to discredit the work of God in the days ahead, seeking to bring confusion and division in the body of Christ.

 

The harvest at the end of the age will be the fruit of this world-wide reformation / revival. Many believe that this harvest has started a few years ago. There is evidence that it has started in the East : China, India and other nations - nations that have not been influenced by the doctrines of Laodicea - the Word-faith prosperity gospel coming chiefly from the US.

 

NOTE: Many prophets and leaders such as Tommy Hicks (under Prophecies) have seen a world-wide revival and harvest at the time of the end.

 

KEY PROPHETIC WORD: VERY, VERY SIGNIFICANT : Isaac/Ishmael

 

"At the London meeting, the present charismatic movement was likened to Ishmael. Taking Genesis 17 as his text, Dr Kendall pointed out that, while God affirmed Hagar [but see Gal 4:30] nevertheless Ishmael was not the promised child. Now, the barren old Church (Sarah) is about to conceive and bring forth the Isaac, and this child - the post-Charismatic movement. " The charismatic movement has been and still is mostly in the flesh.The struggle between Isaac and Ishmael will be seen too. I have personally experienced this war and understand the true nature of it.

 

It is significant that not only has this (Ishmael/Isaac) emerged in the church, but also in the natural too. Recently, the conflict between Iran with other arab nations (Ishmael) and Israel (Isaac) has escalated and aligned itself with the Ezekiel 38-39 end-time scenario.

"This shift is a work of God through the Holy Spirit and is occurring over a period of time. This will NOT all happen today or tomorrow. It may be years ... before this transition season is over. It would be a huge mistake to get into the flesh and try to bring about by human effort what God is doing. It would be equally problematic to try to run ahead of the work the Holy Spirit is doing."

THE LAST DECADE

Many thought - at first - that the Toronto movement - 1993 - was the beginning of the end-time move of God. Initially the presence of God was there. Many leaders from all over the world went to Vineyard Toronto Airport church to bring the 'Toronto Blessing' back to their churches. Later John Wimber (Vineyard) and many other Charismatic leaders such as Derek Prince realised that they needed to distance themselves from it and speak out against it when the fruit became bad - manifesting the flesh and even the demonic. Read more... There was a mixture present - the Holy Spirit, the flesh and the demonic - and no discernment was evident at all. The wilderness foundation was shallow or often missing. However, was it not the beginning of the end-time move - the birth of Isaac?

 

Secular Time magazine, in an article titled "Laughing for the Lord," pointed out that Anglican parishes across England today bear a greater resemblance to "rock concerts" and "rugby matches" than to Christian worship. The article says that sanctuaries throughout the world are littered with bodies as "supplicants sob, shake, roar like lions and strangest of all, laugh uncontrollably."3 Newsweek, in an article titled "The Giggles Are for God," reported that people in churches worldwide were jerking spasmodically, dancing ecstatically, and acting like animals.

The Prophetic movement, which carried the torch from the Toronto movement, is also on shaky ground. The leader of the movement, Paul Cain, a living bridge to William Branham, has fallen into sin. Read more ...

Has praise and worship in the movement degenerated into pagan worship (indicating the lack of the true wilderness foundation)?

... they were doing dance items with just loud voodoo-style drums only - and leaping around in a frenzied circle making weird cries to the super-amplified beat. The feeling in the room was so oppressive and "pagan" during this, that I could hardly even bear to stay in there. Then came one of the most shocking statements of the whole conference - from one of the main prophets. He got up and said that people may feel uncomfortable with such obviously "pagan" type dancing, but that it was originally God's type of dancing and we were just now 'stealing back' what the pagans had stolen from God!"

However, we do need to be balanced here. Some who are not moving with God at all and who have not been open to the Holy Spirit concerning the coming move of God will outrightly condemn a leader who has fallen and reject everything. However, looking carefully, much true prophecy is coming from this movement. Indeed, the Kansas City Prophets have seen and are seeing much concerning the coming move of God.

I do find that their prophecies are very significant. They confirm what has already been independently revealed. Much of the prophetic revelation which was revealed to me decades ago in the wilderness before I had even heard of the Prophetic Movement is confirmed in their prophecies. Paul Cain spoke of the coming move of God and the raising up of a 'new breed of men and women leaders.'

In the midst of Paul's despair and repentance, God told him that if he kept himself from corruption and remained content with living a humble life marked by Scripture study and prayer, one day he would be allowed to stand before a new breed of men and women leaders, These would be marked by simplicity, purity and remarkable manifestations of power” (Terri Sullivant, “Paul Cain: A Personal Profile,” Grace City Report, p. 13.) Paul's obedience to God would result in him waiting on the Lord for some 25 years... a true desert experience. Paul calls these his "almost silent" years. However there was never a time when he was totally out of the ministry.

Again there is a mixture present in the Prophetic movement and the praise and worship disturbs me...

Indeed, the saints of God need to be patient and to keep their eyes on Him! Continue in your pursuit to know Him more. Some have lost hope. Those who have given up have gone back into the world or simply camped in these movements or in dead lifeless religion.

 

As Elisha sought the double portion of the Holy Spirit by keeping his eyes on and staying close to Elijah until he was caught up into heaven and was not found camping in Gilgal, Bethel, Jericho or Jordan, so must we keep our eyes on Jesus until He comes and not be found camping in the present-day Charismatic movement, Faith movement, Toronto movement or Prophetic movement.

 

The double portion will rest on those who are firmly rooted and established in Him and this deep work of God often takes place in the wilderness of God.

 

1 KINGS 19: 11-13a

Then He said,"Go out and stand on the mountain before the Lord." And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave.

 

Historically, Satan has always tried to move in when there is a genuine revival and to bring in a mixture by means of the flesh or allowing brethren without a true foundation to come in. When the mixture manifests, many (Ishmael always) reject the move entirely. We need to be careful that we don't throw the baby (Isaac) out with the bath water. Isaac will grow up and mature near the end of the age...

 

However, we do need to distance ourselves from the movement when the mixture appears...

John Wesley declared:
"At the first, revival is true and pure, but after a few weeks watch for counterfeits." He also said: "Be not alarmed that Satan sows tares among the wheat.... he will always ape, and endeavour to counteract the work of the Spirit of Christ."

 

Riding the Third Wave

In the closing years of the twentieth century a new movement has been sweeping across Christianity known as the "Third Wave", "Third Wave of the Holy Spirit" or the "Signs and Wonders" movement.

The Third Wave is the third major move of the Holy Spirit; with the Pentecostal movement in the early twentieth century being the "first wave"; and the Charismatic movement of the mid-twentieth century being the "second wave."

 

The sheer size of the Third Wave is impressive. The movement "comprises 18,810 independent, indigenous, post denominational denominations and groups." The Third Wave eclipses numerically all Pentecostals and Charismatics combined, with 295,405,240 adherents worldwide, while Pentecostals and Charismatics number 65,832,970 and 175,856,690 respectively.The Third Wave's greatest success is in the prophetic African independent churches; in Asia, especially amongst the House Church movement in China; and in Latin American countries, especially Brazil.It is estimated that by the year 2025 that the Third Wave will be able to claim nearly a half-billion members.

 

Those who are in the Third Wave do not regard themselves either as either Pentecostals or Charismatics.

The main figure in what is known as the "Third Wave" is a man by the name of John Wimber ...

 

 

The Healing of the Waters

The first miracle - the healing of the waters - opens the door to the coming tidal wave of the miraculous.

Elisha took up Elijah's mantle with the double portion of the Spirit. He moved back across the Jordan and into Jericho. Here the miracle took place.

 

The coming tidal wave of the Holy Spirit brings forth the miraculous. The miraculous has broken out in some places to an extent. However, this is not the final wave. It is still future, but very close.

 

This mantle falling on those waiting in the wilderness occurs only after some die. The death of certain people in His sovereign time precedes the coming tidal wave. This truth has been a constant theme of the Holy Spirit over the past decades. Pastor Ed Roebert of Hatfield, South Africa spoke of this. Benny Hinn and Kim Clement have spoken of this truth too. Some will come out of the wilderness with Elijah's double portion after the death of certain people. When they come forth, moving in the miraculous, the first miracle will be central to worldwide explosion of the coming tidal wave.

 

Today the waters are bad. The ground is barren. Death is present. The waters are the waters of Jericho, which speaks of warfare and characterizes the modern Charismatic movement. Although the Charismatic movement is central, the whole church is the ground of the last move of God. This is the same truth that Paul Cain brought forth - that today's church is barren and dead like Sarah's womb. Many don't like to hear this, but it is the truth.

 

Unless the waters are first healed, you will not flow nor have any part with the last move of the Holy Spirit. The waters are the waters of the present church. Today's church cannot bear His glory. There needs to come a change. The coming move of the Holy Spirit will come on the wings of repentance. Only to the extent that the church repents will their waters be healed.

 

Elisha said, "Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it." This speaks of the the NEW work which the Lord has been doing in the wilderness over the past decades. Those coming out from the wilderness are salty - very salty.

 

And he (Elisha) went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said, "Thus says the Lord:'I have healed this water, from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.'"

 

The source of the problem in today's church is being dealt with! Let us pray for revelation concerning this.

Those coming from the wilderness will come with tremendous authority. Apostolic authority. As Elisha pronounced a curse on those who mocked him as he went up to Bethel, so will the coming apostles from the wilderness walk.

 

Elisha had to keep close to Elijah to receive the mantle and not to be found camping in Gilgal, Bethel, Jericho or in Jordan. However, once the mantle fell on him, he returned and ministered to those in Jordan, Jericho, Bethel and Gilgal. Similarly, those in the wilderness have not camped in any of today's movements including the Toronto and Prophetic movements. They will minister to these movements later so that the waters can be healed - yet only on the wings of repentance.

The Army from the Wilderness

Joel 2: 3, 11a

A fire devours before them,
And behind them a flame burns;
The land is like the Garden of Eden
before them,
And behind them a desolate wilderness;
Surely nothing shall escape them...
The Lord gives voice before His army,
For His camp is very great.

 

A people come forth from the wilderness with fire. They have become a Garden of Eden in the wilderness - the miracle of the wilderness. They bring forth the Garden of Eden as they go forth. What they have experienced in the wilderness is manifested as they come forth out of the wilderness. Those who do not flow with this army will remain a desolate wilderness. Barrenness and death will remain in their lives and ministries.

 

When do they come forth? When the day of the Lord is at hand. When darkness abounds. The deeper the darkness, the more these people shine with the brightness of His glory.

 

The call to those who have not been through the true wilderness of God is given in Joel 1:5

 

Awake, you drunkards, and weep;
And wail, all you drinkers of wine,
Because of the new wine,
For it has been cut off from your
mouth.

 

Joel prophetically speaks of Laodicea. A people who have been devoured by satan. No new wine. Branches white. Ruined fig trees. Stripped bare and discarded. A desolate and bleak state. This is the prophetic picture of today's church - a backslidden church bereft of the glory of God.

 

Yet, from this devoured people, an army arises - an army separated by God in the wilderness for the past few decades.

 

Vision of the Two Fields

The Lord showed me two fields in the Spirit. They were both white.

The first was the field in John 4:35

Do not say, 'There are still four
months and then comes the harvest'? Behold,
I say to you, lift up your eyes and look
at the fields, for they are already white for
harvest!

 

The second field was that of Joel 1: 6-7:

 

For a nation has come up against My
land,
Strong and without number;
His teeth are the teeth of a lion,
And he has the fangs of a fierce lion.
He has laid waste My vine,
And ruined My fig tree;
He has stripped it bare and thrown it
away;
Its branches are made white.

 

Who will the Lord send to harvest the first field as His people are like the second field?

The cry that goes forth is given in verse 5:

 

Awake, you drunkards, and weep;
And wail, all you drinkers of wine,
Because of the new wine,
For it has been cut off from your
mouth.

 

That is why the Third Wave has come to the Body of Christ - to bring the new wine and to turn water into wine - the beginning of the miraculous that ushers in the end-time harvest.

 

Look at Joel 2:12- 13a

 

"Now, therefore," says the Lord,
Turn to Me with all of your HEART,
With fasting, with weeping, and with
mourning."
So rend your HEART, and not your
garments;
Return to the Lord your God,
For He is gracious and merciful.

 

The fresh move of the Holy Spirit concerns the HEART and our fellowship to Jesus Christ. Jesus is central in the Third Wave and the HEART relationship to Him is crucial. Religion and the flesh must go.

Prayerfully consider the message of Joel.

 

Defiling the temple of God

1 CORINTHIANS 2-3

Do you not know that you are the TEMPLE OF GOD and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone DEFILES the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

On the surface, we may regard this as advice to look after our physical bodies by exercising and not smoking, etc. Although there is some truth in this, this is not what Apostle Paul was bringing to light in these chapters.

The context is ministry.

Ministries can defile the temple of God when they are off-balance and soulish.

Very few ministries are sound today. The spiritual condition is much worse than many realize because of our blindness and lack of discernment.

Some preach all the right things; yet in a predominantly intellectual manner with little power. This soulish ministry results in defiled fruit. Some appear regularly on Christian television. They are born-again, baptized in the Holy Spirit - preachers - yet their ministry is predominantly soulish and comes from the natural man.

Let us consider how Apostle Paul ministered.

1 Corinthians 2: 2-5

For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

Let not our will, mind or emotions - our soul - dominate. Let us not be guilty of ministering from the natural or soulish man. The Lord desires us to be spiritual which comes from a lifestyle of intimacy with Jesus and waiting on Him constantly. A few words from the Lord is worth much more than ten thousand words from the natural man. Remember - no flesh shall glory in His Presence (1 Corinthians 1:29). Let us no longer minister from the soul. Let us rather spend more time in prayer and less time in study and commentaries.

Our dreams mean nothing. Our plans amount to nothing. Let us seek His plan and destiny for our lives. We have no business seeking our own things. Period. Let us not justify this by saying that we are coworkers with God! Love towards others must come from the anointing of God in our lives. Love of others apart from the love of God being shed in our hearts by the Spirit is merely religeon! Religeon must go. The will (soul) needs to be surrendered to Him. The cross needs to be deeply engraved in our lives and ministries.

The faith movement (major branch of charismatic movement over the past few decades) defiles the temple of God by distorting the foundation given in 1 Corinthians 3:11:

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Our faith is firstly in Him and waiting upon Him. The faith movement places the emphasis backwards. Faith in the written word - often the logos 'promises of God'. Then the rhema. Lip-service is then paid to faith in Jesus Christ. This is clearly evident in the faith doctrine taught in many Bible Schools! All the doctrine and teachings are twisted and manifest a different spirit to that of Christ-centred teaching. The sovereignity of God is also minimised and the will of man predominates in the teachings such as the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

The doctrine affects all aspects of your character as a Christian - a defiled character.

I once was a follower of the faith movement. I know what I am writing about.

The charismatic renewal has decined over the past decades with the flesh predominating today. Much is done in one's own strength and the doctrine taught supports the flesh. This defiles the temple of God.

The flesh takes many forms. Even spiritual mapping moves into the area of the flesh. Instead of receiving only what the Lord reveals, we tend to extrapolate with our souls - we desire to work out things... Let us not only begin in the Spirit, but continue and end in Him too.

Spiritual warfare often moves into the realm of the flesh. The soul plays a greater and greater role in these meetings and little is accomplished in God.

Fasting and prayer often is meaningless too. When prayer is made from the soul with no anointing or direction from the Lord, often little is accomplished. We need to wait on Him and learn to worship Him allowing His aroma to break out over our beings.

Renewing the mind becomes something that you do in your own strength. Instead of letting His Presence change one, we are taught to do it ourselves through the Word of God in our own strength. We are taught to develop godly habits and other things. This again is soulish and results in a mask - an outward superficial change. We have not truely been transformed! Often one falls into sin as we have not been changed from within by the Spirit of God.

Becoming one and part of a meeting where the praise is chiefly of the flesh defiles the temple of God.

Irreverence is the root of defiling the temple of God. Haggai gives us this insight:

Where is My reverence?
Says the Lord of hosts
To you priests who despise My name.
Yet you say, 'In what way have we
despised Your name?'

You offer DEFILED ...

But now entreat God's favour,
That He may be gracious to us.
While this is being done by your hands,
Will He accept you favorably?
Says the Lord of hosts.
Who is there even among you who
would SHUT THE DOORS,
So that you would not kindle fire on My
altar in vain?
I have no pleasure in you,
Says the Lord of hosts,
Nor will I accept an offering from your
hands.
For from the rising of the sun, even to
its going down,
My name shall be great among the
Gentiles;
In every place incense shall be offered
to My name,
And a PURE offering;
For My name shall be great among the
nations,
Says the Lord of hosts.

God is judging and closing churches in this last hour. Judgement often comes when a church will not receive a significant prophetic word to repent and change its ways. The prophets from the wilderness have had a part in this work.

We need to guard our spirits in these last days. All roads do not lead to God! The wise need to be discerning in this final hour.

Let us be holy in this last hour. Do not allow your temple to be defiled especially by wrong teaching from men and women of the cloth!

Judgement often comes as prophetic silence. MIXTURE is the key word coming from Malachi. Mixture in WORSHIP. A 400 YEARS PERIOD OF PROPHETIC SILENCE follows Malachi until John the Baptist arises.

The mixture is not acceptable to God.

Malachi 3: 2-3

But who can endure the day of His coming?
And who can stand when He appears?
For He is like a refiner's fire
And like fullers' soap.
He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the LORD
An offering in righteousness.

Jesus Christ's eyes are like a flame of fire and are thoroughly discerning at the Judgement Seat of Christ. All that which is of the flesh will not stand. Let us take heed to the prophets of the wilderness who come like John the Baptist in the spirit of Elijah to prepare the bride for what is to come.

The message of Malachi often centers on those in ministry.

And now, O PRIESTS, this commandment is for you.

And this is the judgement on the ministries of MIXTURE:

I will send a curse upon you,
And I will curse your blessings.

This is the prophetic word for the charismatic church. We have seen the Pentecostal, Charismatic and the Third Wave in recent times. As the Charismatic move declined, more and more MIXTURE surfaced. Judgement has come on the Charismatic church.

The promise to those who fear and revere the Lord - unlike those with the MIXTURE - is given in Malachi 4: 2-3:

But to you who fear My name
The Sun of Righteousness shall arise
With healing in His wings,
And you shall go out
And grow fat like stall-fed calves.
You shall trample the wicked,
For they shall be ashes under the soles
of your feet
On the day that I do this,
Says the Lord of hosts.

Let us be like Jacob - he who would not let go of God - and not like Esau. Jacob typifies the last move of the Holy Spirit where waiting on God is important. Esau typifies those with a MIXTURE in their lives and ministries.

Malachi 1: 2b -5

Was not Esau Jacob's brother?
Says the LORD.
Yet Jacob I have loved;
But Esau I have hated,
And laid waste his mountains and his
heritage
For the jackals of the wilderness.

Even though Edom has said,
"We have been impoverished,
But we will return and build the
desolate places."

Thus says the Lord of hosts:

"They may build, but I will throw down;
They shall be called the Territory of
Wickedness,
And the people against whom the Lord
will have indignation forever.
Your eyes shall see,
And you shall say,
The Lord is magnified beyond the
border of Israel."

Esau was soulish - his relied on his will and pursued his own plans and dreams. Let us not follow his path and suffer his judgment of God on our lives and ministries.

The Tabernacle of David

These chapters - AMOS 8, 9 - give the prophetic picture of the transition from the charismatic era to the last move of the Holy Spirit which had its beginnings in the early 1990's.

In chapters 8 - 9:10, we see death, judgment and an emphasis on praise and worship. In the last portion of chapter 9, the raising of the tabernacle of David is revealed and a day when the plowman will overtake the reaper.

 

AMOS 8, 9

basket of summer fruit.
And He said, "Amos, what do you see?"
So I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then
the Lord said to me:

"The end has come upon My people
Israel;
I will not pass by them anymore.
And the songs of the temple
Shall be wailing in that day,"
Says the Lord God -
"Many dead bodies everywhere,
They shall throw them out in silence."

 

Judgment has come upon the Charismatic move. Many leaders have discerned this.

Death and barrenness will become deeper and more evident as the years go by. Much is done in the flesh - especially praise and worship. The emphasis placed on the 'songs of the temple' points to this. Much religion, yet little of God.

 

The spirit of the world - verse 5-6 - is clearly evident in the last days. James speaks of this too.

This spirit of materialism has also influenced the charismatic movement coming in through the Word-faith prosperity teachers.

 

Hear this, you who swallow up the
needy,
And make the poor of the land fail,

Saying:

"When will the new moon be past,
That we ma sell grain?
And the Sabbath,
That we may trade our wheat?

Making the ephah small and the shekel
large,
Falsifying the balances by deceit,
That we may buy the poor for silver,
And the needy for a pair of sandals -
Even sell the bad wheat?"

 

Yes, in the last of the last days there will be a transference of wealth from the world to the church. Be careful that we do not transgress. As the tidal wave of miracles comes, so will this accelerate. Let us not teach principles to fulfil this! It will be fulfilled by His sovereign hand.

 

The deepening of the progressive judgment results in a famine - a prophetic famine. The word of the Lord will become rare in Charismatic circles that do not flow and change with the end-time move of the Spirit.

 

Verse 11 - 13a

"Behold, the days are coming," says the
Lord God,
"That I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine of bread,
Nor a thirst for water,
But of the hearing of the words of the Lord.
They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the
word of the Lord,
But shall not find it.

In that day the fair virgins
And strong young men
Shall faint from thirst...

The words "they shall run to and fro" remind us of Daniel 12:4:

But you, Daniel, shut up the words,
and seal the book until the time of the end;
many shall run to and fro, and knowledge
shall increase.

 

Isaiah speaks of 'young men shall faint from thirst' in ISAIAH 40: 30 - 31:

 

Even the youths shall faint and be
weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like
eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

 

This speaks of the judgment on the Charismatic move that is dying and where the flesh predominates - especially in praise and worship.

 

A great shaking is taking place in the church worldwide.

 

AMOS 9: 1

I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and
He said:
"Strike the doorposts, that the
thresholds may shake,
And break them on the heads of them
all.
I will slay the last of them with the
sword.
He who flees from them shall not get
away,
And he who escapes from them shall
not be delivered.

 

At the time of the great shaking in the church, the Lord says that He will raise up the tabernacle of David.

 

Verse 11

On that day I will raise up
The tabernacle of David, which has
fallen down,
And repair its damages;
I will raise up its ruins,
And rebuild it as in the days of old;

 

I bring fire

As the fire comes, the mixture of gold and brass will heat up and melt. As the heat increases, the dross – the brass - will rise to the surface. The responsibility of these prophets of the wilderness is to bring the fire. It is the responsibility of the people of God to remove the brass as it comes to the surface and becomes clearly visible. The brass will be seen to be different from the gold. As the brass is removed, the gold will become purer and the Refiner will look down from heaven and seeing His own face in the pure gold, will bless the people of God in all His fullness ushering in the COMING MOVE OF GOD.

 

HAGGAI  1: 8

Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,' says the Lord

 

FOUNDATIONAL SCRIPTURE 

 

HAGGAI  2:   6-9

"For thus says the Lord of Hosts:
Once more (it is a little while) I will SHAKE heaven and earth the sea and dry land;
and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations,
and I will fill this temple with glory,' says the Lord of hosts.
'The silver is Mine, and the GOLD is Mine,' says the Lord of hosts.
The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,'
says the Lord of hosts.
'And in this place I will give PEACE,' says the Lord of hosts.'

We have seen a shaking in the kingdoms of this world – there is coming a SHAKING in the kingdom of God bringing REFORMATION and then REVIVAL  and then the end will come.  The shaking will come as the PROPHETS OF THE WILDERNESS bring the FIRE that will eventually,  in His sovereign time and plan, usher in the LAST  AND GREATEST MOVE OF GOD that many have been waiting for.  

 

Just as Elijah called on His God who answered by fire and was surrounded by the thundercloud and storm of God - prophetic of the latter rain, the Lord is going to honour and pour out His Spirit on the WORSHIP and MINISTRY of the coming move;  that which has not come forth on the sacrifice of praise in the past Charismatic move. Many have cried out and sought for revival in the Charismatic move but like the prophets of Baal have had much noise but no fire. Just as Elijah contended and warred in the context of Jezebel, so the dominant spirit that will be encountered in this season is the spirit of Jezebel.

 HOW WILL THE THIS MOVE COME?

1.  THE WILDERNESS  (THE LAODICEAN CALL)

REVELATION 3:20

A world-wide phenomenon.

 

Consider the extract:

 " ... New Zealand pastor Alan Jamieson, author of A Churchless Faith, has been studying this phenomenon for some years. To his surprise he found that far from being nominal churchgoers, 94% of the 'out-of-church' Christians he interviewed had been leaders of some kind - such as deacons, elders or Sunday school teachers - and 40% had been full-time Christian workers. He also found that for many the break came not because they had lost their faith, but more because they wanted to save it.

 

It seems that there is a tremendous groundswell of "dissatisfaction" occurring in the church right now. Could it be that God Himself may be causing this, to prepare for great change and reformation amongst His people?

 

As we have seen in this chapter - in fact this whole book - there are a group of Christians in the world today who have left the comfort of routines and friends and familiar surroundings, to set off towards something new, not knowing exactly where they are going or how they will get there. Just knowing that they had to go. They heard a call, they tasted a vision, and off they went. It was a brave thing to do and a lot of them have my deepest admiration. If they can make it through the desert, nothing is surer than that many of them will make wonderful leaders of God's people. But it is getting out of that 'wilderness' mind set that is the key thing. I personally believe that a great number of them will make it through. We are living in momentous days.

 

So is this huge Out-of-church movement a sign that something unprecedented lies just ahead? Is the massive groundswell of "dissatisfaction" amongst multitudes of Christians evidence that dramatic change is just around the corner? Certainly we would have to conclude that something major is going on. This thing is way too big to be mere coincidence. There is something very unusual taking place - on a worldwide scale that only God could orchestrate.

 

So are we about to see a new breed of leaders come in from the desert - prepared for years for this time - ready to usher in a new move of God's Spirit?... But the signs are there that something of this order of magnitude is definitely building. It seems beyond question that God is on the move in a new way in this generation. And He is doing something quite radical. Or perhaps it is something so old that it just seems radical - because we have never seen its like before..."

 

2.  INTO THE CHURCH (LAODICEA)

FIRE will come from those whom I have already prepared and whom have been waiting in the wilderness (see prophecy by Rod Parsely on John the Baptist). As the prophets of the wilderness come forth,  They will enter churches for a season. 

As the fire comes, the mixture of gold and brass will heat up and melt. As the heat increases, the dross – the BRASS - will rise to the surface. The responsibility of these prophets of the wilderness is to bring the FIRE. It is the responsibility of the people of God to remove the BRASS as it comes to the surface and becomes clearly visible. The BRASS will be seen to be different from the GOLD. As the BRASS is removed, the GOLD will become purer and the Refiner will look down from heaven and seeing His own face in the PURE gold, will BLESS the people of God in all His fullness ushering in the COMING MOVE OF GOD.

 

However, not all will remove the BRASS. Some will desire to pour water on the fire and to silence the prophets. By this you will know and discern the true ministers from the false. Some will do this by saying these prophets are not under authority and many other excuses to prevent the prophets from speaking.

Much of this is revealed in ZECHARIAH : the SHEPHERD in the context of warfare, THE HOUR OF THE WAILING SHEPHERD and - the emergence of the prophetic shepherd . The SPIRIT OF JEZEBEL manifests in this CONFRONTATION.

 

3.  THE REMNANT

The church will to a large extent reject the new move of the Spirit and the movement will leave the church. A few  churches will receive the fire and will experience revival. So we see a picture of revival springing up in places where there is an openness to the new anointing as well as in groups of believers who have left the churches because of a number of reasons.

The missing link

The preaching has changed. Lip-service is paid to our personal relationship to the Lord. The emphasis has changed. However, revival is coming. This new anointing comes on the wings of our restored deep inward personal relationship .... and this restoration - from the shallows to the depths - will affect every aspect of our lives - both private and public. No longer will we be able to clap, whistle, etc. in praise and worship. A new reverence and spirit of worship will envelop us.

 

Many speak of revival today. Many are expecting revival and to be a part of it. Some say that they are experiencing revival. Some ask the Lord to revive them in praise and worship, "Revive me O Lord", "Change me, O Lord" ; yet they continue to grieve the Holy Spirit by a lack of sensitivity and reverence to Him and are not willing to change. Revival has become a byword amongst many Christians and often simply refers to church growth. A fast-growing mega church does not mean that they are experiencing revival. On the contrary, true revival will come from the wilderness.

 

Something is lacking .... the missing link. Unless restoration of our personal relationship to Jesus first takes place - and a deep restoration following repentance, they will not see the coming revival.

 

Repentance in the wilderness is not merely a change in conduct or practice. It cuts to the root or foundation. The foundation needs to be changed.

 

GENESIS 7:11

... on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

ISAIAH 43: 19b -21

I will even make a road in the
wilderness.
And rivers in the desert.
The beast of the field will honour Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I give waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My people, My chosen.
This people I have formed for Myself,
They shall declare My praise.

The foundation needs to be firmly established and the foundation established in the wilderness is completely different from that within the present-day charismatic movement.

That is why those from the wilderness will often be in conflict with their Charismatic brethren. This has been confirmed by prophecies such as "The Civil War".

 

A different foundation.

 

The foundation of the wilderness is Jesus Christ Himself. Not the Word of God. Although the Word of God is God-breathed and the only divine authority wrt spiritual truths, it points us to Him and establishes us in Him.

 

JOHN 5:39 - 42

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
I do not receive honour from men.
But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.

It is not the same foundation as found in the Word-faith or present-day Charismatic movement .

Much more needs to be said about this. This change is crucial to understand and is the cornerstone of the coming restoration and revival. Read more ...

 

The foundation is clearly expounded in "Experiencing the depths of Jesus Christ" by Jeanne Guyon. Her ministry and work was highly recommended by Watchman Nee, Fenelon, Count Zinzendorf, John Wesley, the early Quakers and Hudson Taylor. They all highly recommended it to the believers of their day. Benny Hinn and Pastor Ed Roebert have also spoken highly of her.

This foundation is restored in the wilderness of God. The deeper the foundation, the more the Lord will establish you and work through you in the coming revival.

Not only will natural storms increase
as His return draws near
but the storm of God is coming.
The latter rain comes as a thunderstorm
Only those with the wilderness foundation will
shine as stars in the eleventh hour.

This is not intended to undermine the FOUNDATIONAL DOCTRINES as stated in HEBREWS 6 which emphasises the need to baptised in water and in the Holy Spirit after salvation. These were very strongly impressed upon me by the Holy Spirit once I was born again.

 

However, the foundation of JESUS CHRIST (1 CORINTHIANS 3:11) is not understood or dealt with in the modern church. Very little is taught on it. This foundation which was the foundation of historic Christianity has been uprooted and not upheld in modern times.This is the foundation that I am speaking about.

Some may wrongly accuse us of being contentious (1 CORINTHIANS 1: 11) concerning these matters. The truth is this - we need to CONTEND for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints (JUDE 1:3). This is not a dispute over small matters but over essentials of the faith.

Indeed, the word of the Lord is "Cross the River Jordon NOW." This is true worldwide. All true apostolic correction and instruction to churches should line up with this prophetic word. The apostolic movement which is to arise and manifest in its fullness in this season has this message central in its mandate from Jesus.

 

A third experience

Born again (Passover) ... Baptism in water (Crossing the Red Sea) ... Baptism in the Holy Spirit (cloud by day, pillar of fire by night)... Dying to self or taking up your cross (Jordan crossing).

Some saints, such as Kathryn Kuhlman, entered the third experience when they were baptized in the Holy Spirit, but most, like the Israelites, experience this distinctly at the Jordan, a place of death. Jeanne Guyon's book 'Experiencing the depths of Jesus Christ' [a well-known Christian classic] deals with this third experience extensively.

Taking up her cross ... dying to herself ... allowing God to become totally alive through her ... it was the baptism of the Holy Spirit and it changed the direction of her ministry ... Kathryn started preaching under the new power that she had received ... soon people who were attending her Bible studies reported healings that occurred during the services... that ministry grew worldwide and included regular services in Los Angelos which began in 1965.
